I just bought a 2003 Avensis SR 117k miles for 1400 previous not history shows nothing to worry about cars in tidy condition and rightfully will be made mint gain then put away can see the SR being worth a lot in 5 years there's only 23 left in the UK now won't be many at all in the next 5 years

More likely to be a case of 'rare but nobody cares'

OP a great story and till running, Like another poster i’m Ex Toyota GB and ran many many of these in my time there. Not the most dynamic but truly comfortable and reliable in the time I had them and it seems that that they’re extremely durable taking age and mileage well.
+1 Agree always liked these and very rare now

Seems like half the people reading this used to work for Toyota, I'm another!

Don't have many memories of the Avensis, I left in '98, but I was very impressed by the Carina GTI which was a current model when I was there. Even the vanilla 2.0 went and handled well enough to be entertaining.

Not surprised at the mega mileage on the OPs car, typical Toyota at the time, mechanically excellent, rust was generally the issue back then.

Little update then. Begrudgingly I sold this a couple of years ago when I simply had too many cars and was forced to take on a company lease car. It sold to a guy I know - his 19 year old daughter drove it to Dubrovnik on a banger rally, then toured it all the way home.

Currently on 282k and still plodding. Great, great cars.
