Why the mix of parts? is the SIII front axle better than a XJS? or just what you can get hold of?
The reason for using the SIII front clip was the condition it came in. For the rear I wanted a power lock diff and not all XJ6 came with the power lock but the XJS did.

With both the front and rear axles finished I started on the jig. When the jig was completed and levelled and bolted to the floor I positioned the front, rear axles and engine/box onto the jig.

The shape will be generated by manufacturing a wire buck so the shape will develop as I make the buck.

Hang on...did you start this on Saturday?!

Since Saturday I managed to rub down the top coat on two wheels, respray and just applied the final coat of lacquer!

Good work!

That much? Since saturday, I've looked at my car, turned my head sideways to look at it from a different angle, said "...nah." and closed the lockup. biggrin

I thought it might be down to the condition of the parts & the type of diff.
Brilliant project, I wish I had the time, money & mostly the skills for such a thing thumbup

Its projects like this, that both inspire and depress.

Inspire as its plain crackers in a good way and depress as I know I will never have the skill set or knowledge to do this.

Very ambitious project.

Can't wait to see the result. Any chance you could post a sketch of your vision for the finished article?

bookmarked - top work.

What is your background? you are clearly 'handy' and understand the basics of getting everything properly straight, but to what level - it's a promising start for sure. What inspiration did you take for the chassis design? the engine is going to be set quite far back by the look of it, is that on account of future packaging constraints or to aid weight distribution? are you going to stay carb or are you going EFI?

Top marks so far though thumbup

Sorry no sketches, body design will be done on the job if you get my drift, that’s the fun part.
