The OP has more skills than a very skillful thing that just stepped off the Skill Express from Skills-ville.

Having had some background in the administrative side of production engineering at BAe many moons ago, I've some idea what goes into a complex bit of metalwork like this. That one man in a small workshop can knock out such a convincing-looking thing is fairly amazing. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

Cheers guy’s many thanks for comments they are much appreciated.

Before I can start the air scoops/wire frame for the rear I needed to make up the sheet metal work for the hatch and the lower panel for the bracket. The retaining pins on the roll bar are angle at 6 degrees from the horizontal so the steel metal work had to match the angle so the hatch can be removed. Andy

Top, top work. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the final product, although I think I'm enjoying the WIP shots more!

A few questions:

1. What background do you have to facilitate this work? Nowhere does this sort of work!

2. Do you have a press of some description to stamp out those panels? Surely they're not hand beaten?

3. Can we have a full side on view of the car as it stands, please?

Keep it up!

Andy - you need to start filming this & create a you tube channel of this build :P

Here are a couple of interesting builds I´m following:

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but answers away:
1) Welder fabricator by trader, engineer for job but most important total passion for cars.
2) Panels will be handmade but the pressing you see are from using bead roller.
3) Pictures as requested.
Andy

Looks great! Mass centralisation is very evident from that top photo.

What size wheels / Tyres will you be using? Any ideas on rim style?

What's the next job?

I am looking at 245/35/20 front and 345/25/20 rear at the moment. Wheels will be 3 piece in black (white body).
Next job is to finish off the buck wire frame and other door.

Cheers Andy

Awesome.

With those dimensions and the obnoxious 345s at the rear, I'm picturing something not too dissimilar to a hot rod/moonshine runner? How far off the mark am I?

Damn, those are some properly fat tyres! How much does a set of those go for?

Really amazing job you're doing on your scratch-built car.

Seeing the wire guides you're using to lay the skin of the car on to simply reminds me of wireframe graphics in 80s computer games (before computers were powerful enough for shaded 3D graphics). Ticking my "computer nostalgia" and "build porn" boxes all at once.

The frount looks a bit like an AC 3000ME to me, was it an inspiration or just a cowincidence?

Andy. Just discovered and read this build over the last couple of days. Absolutely awesome is all I can say.
Outstanding through and through.

I know it's probably more work than you'd want on your plate at the moment but have you considered posting this on Mankey Monkey Motors forum. They'd love this they would. Various forum members there doing very similar things to this. Just a thought,

Mark

Cheers, not cheap around the £350 mark. Andy

Credit for the grill goes to my daughter since I had made up the frame when she came into the garage for a chat and I ask her which way round and what angle the grill should be. So the front grill is the way of my daughter so no AC more Bec’s. Cheers Andy
