Looks brilliant, and agreed that the red tail lights are a massive improvement. I'd have kept the GT86 badge silver though, think it sets it off quite nicely in the EVO pictures.

Absolutely brilliant! Stunning from every angle, most so from behind ( the lights are perfect). This is my new favourite car on here!

Dave, I don't suppose you know of a replacement boot spoiler, preferably similar in size/shape/design to your TRD, but with high-level LED brake light incorporated?
I'd love to lose the early noughties plastic lump in my rear window, as well as replace the ugly great **** of a spoiler.

I don't know of any TRD style spoiler with a brake light fitted, however, I could quite easily fit one of these

Into one of these for you

Would this meet your needs?

Thank you every one for the great comments smile. The good thing about the badges is they are only held on with double sided tape, so can easily be changed back. The thought behind spraying them black was two fold, one I am trying to totally de-chrome my car, and secondly, I wanted to add the T at the end for the turbo, but to keep it as subtle as possible.

yes
Spookily, that's the very same spoiler I spoke with Jim at Fensport about earlier today. He confirmed it covers the factory holes and is readily paintable. It's so cheap it doesn't matter too much of it doesn't work out. I'm over there next Thursday so will take a gander. I'd be more than grateful if it's something you're able to do. Happily pay for your time, materials and inconvenience if you're up for it? beer

Just stumbled on this thread what fantastic job the OP has done with this. It's got me seriously interested in getting one now whereas I never considered one before.

I've never really been in to the modding scene before but I might change my mind on that too.

Okay, so that's probably the best one I've ever seen...

Loving the carbon fibre! Bit of a we for that stuff myself on my Clio Renaultsport, but haven't taken it quite as far as you. Only thing is the badges, definitely think they were a better contrast in silver. Either way, lovely!

I don't really see this as modding scene though. Obviously it's modding but it's improving rather than sticking a load of tat all over the car

Kind of the opposite of stuff you see in the badly modified thread

Oh wow, how did I miss this thread.

OP - The GT86 looks amazing, obviously has the power to deliver now too. I see you have the tuning bug now, there is no going back.

Good to see that Adrian is still doing it, I've known Adrian since the days he was breaking Toyotas as AJS. I used to be into the Toyota tuning scene heavily, but not these days.

Having said that, my brother has a lovely TRD GT86 in black, and a UK spec AE86 which he has converted to a Trueno. I have transplanted a Supercharger engine into it, and it is undergoing a TRD N2 body kit conversion.

My brother is very keen to have the Turbo conversion done on his GT86, I have lost count of the amount of times he has talked about it. I will be sure to point him to the direction of this thread.

One more thing, how was re-mapping done? Via the OEM ECU or a MoTeC ECU? I know Adrian favoured the MoTeC system heavily, things have changed drastically in the tuning scene now though. Much can be done with OEM equipment.

Thank you Twincharge smile The car still used the original ECU. Using ECUTEK software, the ECU can be fully remapped. There is even the ability to add features like launch control, flat foot shifting and auto blip on down shifting, up to four different maps (selectable on the fly) and electronic boost control. Adrian is still a great fan of the MoTeC, but with the tune-ability of the standard ECU, it is just not worth the cost on a road car.

Agree with the general concensus this car looks lovely... The wheels and rear lights really make a difference. Why they haven't made a factory turbo model yet with rear lights like yours I don't know.

Any concerns about the red rear indiwinkers? Will you have to switch to standard tail lights when it gets to MOT time?

I'd assume from the looks of them that they would be LED, and so probably have a red lens but orange LED, so wouldn't be a problem. Just a guess and I'm sure the OP will clarify. thumbup

The Toms tail lights are E marked, so fully approved :-)

They are LED, and do flash orange.
