Very small update
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I am using an AEM combined boost and Lambda/AF ratio gauge. I have fitted it into a special holder that replaces the RHS vent. The vent still functions (the gauge is surrounded on a 'grid' of holes), but it does prevent having to add a gauge pod onto the top of the dash or A pillar, which I wanted to avoid, to maintain the stealth look. (Might need to rotate the gauge slightly clockwise )

very nicely done, circa 200bhp/tonne is a sweet spot for me, i'll probably be flamed but how does the mpg compare before/after?
Really not sure. To be totally honest, I have never bothered to accurately calculate the mpg since I got the car. According to the mpg reading in the dash display options, My average since I got the car last September is about 33 mpg. I will have a look what it is now in the morning. My view point is, if I was worried about fuel consumption, I would have bought a Prius or hybrid Aurus.

How is the car living up to promise?! Is it much of a different drive to before? (Obviously I am guessing yes, but keen on the low down!)
I saw a few GT86s at the nurburgring the other week and they look great. They look in the flesh to be much more expensive than they cost.... They look to me to be a £40k car! ;-)
Yes, the car is more than living up to promise :-). To be honest, it is now a totally different cay - in the best way possible. Standard, there is quite a torque dip around 4000 rpm. Now, it pulls like crazy from below 3000 rpm, with no noticible turbo lag at all. Adrian at Fensport has done a fantastic job of mapping it, and the AVO turbo is per fiscally matched to the engine.I saw a few GT86s at the nurburgring the other week and they look great. Couple of minor updates
For some obscure reason only known to Toyota GB, you can spec a reversing camera for a Toyota Yaris, but not for the GT 86. So, with the guidance of a member of the GT 86 owners club, and £11.50 for a camera via ebay, and roughly the same for a harness adaptor to plug the camera lead into the back of the Toyota head unit (from a chap in the USA), the result:
Also, the GT 86 only comes with a very basic center console (behind the gear lever and handbrake). Toyota have realised the error of their ways, and have introduced an aftermarket hinged armrest, which needless to say, I have procured and fitted
Next upgrade is to get my new cat-back exhaust fitted (which was supposed to be here in time for fitment along with the turbo kit, however the supplier in the USA decided to send it across the pond on a sailing ship). It has now arrived at Fensport, and I will be taking my car back to Adrian to have it fitted, and then re-mapped as soon as possible.
Once this has been done, the car will be taken to Tuning Developments in Cheshire to obtain an independent dyno plot, which I will post up. Hopefully, with the new rear exhaust (it is 3" dia as opposed to the standard 2"), Adrian will be able to get a nice round 300 bhp for me

I love the car and the mods. I'm seriously considering GT86 for my next car early next year.
Crazy that Toyota won't add the reversing camera as an option or even standard, but a good fix there, too!
Thank you If you do decide to get a GT 86, I am sure you won't regret it Crazy that Toyota won't add the reversing camera as an option or even standard, but a good fix there, too!

I'm sure I've seen this twice over the weekend in Droitwich?
If it is you it looks bloody amazing, really lovely stance, the pics don't Fi it justice, although I bet you will have fun with speedbumps!
Well done mate, awesome work!

Could well be me, as I do live in Droitwich Speed bumps are OK, just need to crawl over them. Only bottomed out once on one, when I tried to take it far too fast.
If you live in Droitwich, and would like a test drive, you are more than welcome

I spy another option too: greddy.
There are actually a number of turbo options available in the USA, the problem being (in my opinion anyway) is that whilst it is relatively easy to cobble together a turbo kit to fit a car, it is the subsequent tuning, and resultant reliability which differentiates what is a good, and a bad solution, especially for a daily driver. My logic behind the selection of the AVO / Fensport solution was as follows:
1) AVO is a long established company (along with greddy), so they do know what they are doing.
2) The AVO kit has the turbo low down, replacing the existing exhaust manifold / primary cats, so the heat source is kept in an area designed for it. I am a bit worried with heat soak issues with a top mounted turbo installation.
3) Thirdly, and most probably the most important factor was having Fensport as the UK agents for AVO, so I know the whole fitment, and subsequent re-mapping of the ECU has been done properly by a known company with excellent credentials. The majority of the US kits rely on 'remote' re-mapping, whereby you are provided with a base map, and then have to take data logs to be sent to the 'tuner' for revision, and then you are e mailed back an updated map to reflash the ECU. Whilst this is obviously a very cost effective way of making a lot of money for the tuner, it certainly does not instill the necessary confidence in me, with a project that is costing close to 40k (if I include the initial purchase price, as well as the suspension, wheel and other upgrades I have made).

Great thread.
How much was the hinged armrest? That really does look nice, should've come with the car.
Do you have a link to any fitting instructions for the reverse camera, would it be a simple job for someone with the mechanical skills of clarkson?

Not a difficult job, but Clarkson may battle a bit

Wow what a thread! Really did enjoy reading through the whole thing (I usually get bored before half way..!)
I love how no expense has been spared, and you have a fantastic car to show for it!! Has it been mapped yet?

Yes, my car has been fully mapped by Adrian Smith (Fensport). It is an interim level map, however, due to the fact that the final exhaust has not yet been fitted. This is scheduled to be done towards the end of October (due to availability of Adrian, and my global travels). Current power is circa 275-280bhp, at just over 7psi boost. Once the final exhaust has been fitted, and the boost can be upped, I am hoping for circa 300bhp. Whilst the boost levels may sound low, it must be remembered that the engine has a 12.5:1 compression ratio.
Time for a small update
I have never been a great fan of the silver trim on the interior
So, as my car approaches its first birthday, I decided it was time for a small interior facelift. The Australian spec GT has black trim components where the European one is silver, so I ordered the parts from Japan, and have changed them:
