To be fair its a Subaru engine
Partly true The whole car is very much a joint venture collaboration between Toyota and Subaru. The bottom end of the engine is Subaru (totally new design, though), whilst the heads are a Toyota / Yamaha development. The DI system is totally Toyota, whilst the engine uses Subaru’s Active Valve Control System. Looks great in black and good to see the turbo kit being installed, should lift the car up into the "276hp" class with the big boys, plus with it being small and fairly light should be a really good package.
I test-drove a GT86 effectively back-to-back with my 180SX (2.0 turbo), as you say it's not so much the headline power but the readily accessible midrange ooomph which makes a car feel responsive to the driver's right foot, your turbo'd 86 looks to be real fun. Driving impressions please when you get a chance!

Do you sell Toyotas for a living then?
Thank you. I don't work for Toyota anymore. I worked for Toyota in South Africa for 24 years, in various positions in the Assembly Plant - started as a development engineer, and finished running the paint shop I work as a Management Consultant now, with clients literally all over the world.Do you sell Toyotas for a living then?
Further progress
Intercooler fitted
Turbo fitted, and oil & water lines plumbed in
View from the top of the turbo
Tight fit with the intercooler pipe, washer bottle and headlamp wash jet. The AVO kit is a really well engineered product
Installation should be finished tomorrow, and then first start . Unfortunately my new rear exhaust is still somewhere between Chicago in the USA and the UK, so Fensport will be fitting one of their systems to get the car running. What a fantastic company to deal with!

Had heard a lot of good things about Fensport and also see their project cars out a lot.
They are a really fantastic bunch to deal with. Not exactly local to me (actually about 116 miles away), but I would not trust my car to any other tuner. You hear / read so many horror stories about how tuning companies mess clients around. Fensport is just the opposite, and go out of their way to help, give good sound advice and go the extra mile. Glad to hear it!Was never really fond of the GT86 but maybe that was because I thought it was missing something. Yours has brought me on side of the GT86 now and that's what they should have come out of the factory like!
Love these cars, and hats off to you for what you're doing. Should be pretty epic. I love modding cars but after having one for the day round Rockingham I'd keep it standard, pretty much the only new car I'd buy right now!
Can't wait to see all the vids you're going to post up when it's done!
