blimey - you have been very unlucky recently!

I am about to sell mine as the wife is buying a passat estate so no need for a big 4x4 anymore.

Off topic but how would you rate the XC compared to a say a Jeep Grand Cherokee of similar vintage?

I very much doubt it will a CAN wiring fault, as you wouldn't be able to communicate with the modules to read the error codes. Hopefully the replacement sensors should sort it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Alex - I thought after you'd sorted your drive-train issues you'd get a bit of peace. It sounds as if your XC is giving you more trouble than the Alfa.

Anyhow, fingers crossed that this next sensor cure it smile

Sorry to read about your ongoing issues, I have my old v70 sitting doing bugger all in Crawley for the next 3 weeks if you are in need of a UK based runabout!

As good as Minis are they are not for the family!

Number 2 has a Mini and I have to question why the 'boot' is there because bugger all fits in it!

It is quite normal for Volvos to throw a "xxx module Comms error" if a fault code has been stored so, usually, this is a red herring and it will go away once the route cause is fixed.

Does ViDA have the ability to allow for data logging while you're driving to check for something like a gummed up Variable Vane turbo? These seem to have a habit of sticking and causing all sorts of weird issues.

To my (not very good eye) it's looking like intercooler. My Golf GTi has a tiny bit of oil around some pipes but nothing coming out. Will you have the garage smoke test the intake side of the engine to see how well it holds pressure and if there are any leaks?

I think you're right with the DPF. Does the DPF regen more now vs when at normal operations? Hopefully it will be something silly like a slightly leaky I/C or a hose that's let go. It always seems to be silly things like this that cause so much headache and walletache.

On another note, what do the Vac related engine mounts do? Are they to compensate for the engine operating at different loads so therefore is producing more vibrations? Sounds like a good way to improve NVH in an oil burner.

And finally, how did the Alfa blow up its gearbox!? Forget you were in a manual and try to ram it into gear? hehe

Good that you found the fault - shall we rack that up to the extra boost from the polestar chip ;-)

Mine is up for sale now its hit 70,000 miles - put it up for £12500 on Friday, had a guy look at it today and he is going to sort his finances out this afternoon + I have another two interested parties queuing to buy it if he doesn't...

Glad to hear it is fixed now with not too much trouble. What's fuel economy like before and after the I/C replacement?

I was down to just over 20mpg average before the IC change. Hoping to see it return to closer to 30 over the coming tanks.... smile
Wow, that's not much more than my V70 T6 - which probably only weighs about 200kg less. Good to see its all worked out in the end though. I traced a mid-range hiccup on the Lib to a leaky IC pipe - quick stripdown and clean up made a big difference - must be a step change with a new IC...
