Fair to say the performance is back......

Full auto:

Geartronic 2nd gear start:

8,9s! No reason to dis-believe it either. It feels about as fast as our MINI Cooper which is 8,5 0-60.

I do like me Polestar, I do...!
Is the 0-60 time display from that canbus extender you bought? That's just going to encourage hooligan behavior hehe

This is an brilliant thread, and has renewed my love for the XC90...

Just a shame my parents are buying a VW T5 camper because I'd persuade them to get an XC90 instead hehe

Bugger - now thats making me re-think selling it for something faster and instead just chipping it and taking it to mega miles instead...

Looking at rica stage 2 = 240 bhp = £597 including soft loader and the other 2 maps (e-power map and ECU upgrade map)

hmmmm if its not sold by this weekend ( getting sick of people not being able to afford an extremely reasonably priced car in my opinion) then its a re-map I reckon.

I'd be worried about the automatic gearbox with that 240bhp RICA map I think, I have a MTE 225bhp map on my C70 D5 and I suspect even that 25% increase in power and torque is going to significantly impact on the lifespan of many components. Even more power and torque through an autobox already at it's limits plus the weight of the XC90 is surely not a recipe for longevity and trouble free service hehe

rofl You had exactly the same thought as I did on seeing that photo, it's the bikes that do it! thumbup

Great thread.

It brings back memories of our much loved v70 that was sadly consigned to the px pile following gearbox troubles. That yellow triangle crops up in the nightmares of out of warranty volvo owners that don't have access to a diag box of tricks. Wonderful cars but scary complex.

Xc90 is on my list of replacements for our Ford galaxy. It's either an s-max, Xc90 or another galaxy. They are terminally dull but so massively practical and rely cheap to run but the allure of the fk off comfy swede is very strong. I reckon I'll be looking to spend about £15k next year some time so shod get a good un for that.

soooo..

sold the xc90, for exactly what i wanted for it, to a nice chap with a family who i think will look after it.

Bought an a4 3.2 quattro - which promptly shat its starter motor the next morning - st..

Seller paid half for its replacement (£500 job at an indy!!) which was very decent of him.

Audi has got nothing on Volvo reliability.

I have loads of volvo stuff on ebay now, 18" altlantis wheels with nokian tyres, unpainted bumper cheeks and moustache, fabric dog guard and a few other bits - PM me with your wants and i'll see if i can help..

That's a good upgrade!

Saw a new XC90 on the road locally - I didn't even know they'd updated them. paperbag

Oooh that looks good! And £205 all in can't be moaned at! Did any resistors need wiring in or was it a plug and play jobbie? Also like the Cheeky Moose residing on the tow bar cover. Now you need some of those wing stickers like you had on the V70! biggrin

When you do upgrade I don't think you'll be disappointed Alex. Some family friends took delivery of theirs a month ago and love it. They got rid of their '04 XC90 for it and have an XC60 also. Lovely thing inside and still has to me what makes a Volvo a Volvo... Even with the lack of 5cyl. I think I'd go for the T8 but the D5 does not seem bad at all for an oil burner.

Flippin' 'eck! Load lugging like that remind me of UK trips when our 2 were little!
Our Alhmabra used to have only 4 seats in and be loaded up.

Safe trip home!

Nice choice of buggy there, we have the same one which lives in the boot of the car but is also used when wee fly somewhere. Fantastic bit of kit, and my son can't escape from the straps, unlike our Bugaboo which he climbs out of in seconds when he gets bored!

The mountain buggy is great isn't it! Probably the only piece of baby equipment we've bought that I've thought is really worth the money.

Being able to check it in as hand luggage is a massive bonus too.
Indeed. It also doubles as a handy luggage trolley when walking to the station to catch a flight with child in a carrier on your back.

Good to see the XC90 is still going strong, I really like the look of the new one but at 71k CHF for a basic one I think our next car will probably be a Discovery Sport. Having said that our local dealer seems to have five unregistered new XC90s for sale and in stock, and another with a ton of options and 150km so maybe supply is going to outstrip demand and they'll be down to 50k pretty soon?

I don't much fancy their chances of moving the five old models with under 500km which they want 60-70k a pop for though when they have new models at under 80k!
