I had one of the last seiras made as my first car.
K626 une a 1.6 azure blue beast that was prone to snapped clutch cables as I tried to perfect the art of drifting with no power.

Love the fact that the car still has the standard rear Windows, I miss mine far to much

Now that is cool, to own a car for as long as I've been on this planet and to give it a new lease of life like you have is brilliant. Hopefully it should last another 30 odd years.

From what a mate of mine has said there seem to be a fair number of V6 Sierras in Ireland.

Very nice smile Reminds me of my dad's old white XR4x4 which he had from new for maybe 3-4 years. Not sure exactly when that was but I was quite small, I think it might have been a C or D reg.

Before that he had a red W reg XR3 (not "i") and afterwards an E reg Granada Scorpio smile

Chopped this in against it.Took me months to find this spec and colour XR3s sold like hot cakes, before the competition caught up.

Having owned the car for so long, and knowing a fair bit about them, i did a XR4i history thread a few months back.
If you are interested and missed it?

Absolutely fantastic!

My dad bought a six month old XR4i when I was lad, I remember him turning up in it and all the neighbours turning up to have a look at it.

He had his three years and chopped it in for a company Montego!

Great car, I love seeing 80's metal being kept on the road!

Was just having a browse on auto trader around my local area, like you do and came across this Ad. Thought I recognised the plate and returned to this thread! smile

Very nice. I would love to do this with a car from almost new and for it to still be in such good condition well done. Update the tread once the engine if finished!

Colleague of a good friend of mine bought a brand new white one in 1982.

My most vivid memory of it was doing 130 in it 4 up and loaded with camping gear on the M56 on the way to Abersoch.
There was a Jag XJ on our tail for a good 10 miles as you pass Helsby.

Great car. He replaced it with a brand new RS500.
Unfortunately no camping trip in that car :-(

I saw one of these in White in Alaska and realised that I probably haven't seen one in the UK in 10 years. HowManyLeft says there are around 200 non-4WD's left but I suspect many of those are actually dead but not been properly declared as such to the DVLA

One of my favourite cars as I had a toy one as a boy which my little lad loves to play with now, though he will be lucky to see a real one, a rare sight now days

Always a soft spot for the XR4i as it is the fastest I have ever been on public roads as a passenger in one.

Ditto :-)

See my post above.
Not fast by today's standard but back then my dads Mk1 cavalier 2.0 LS felt like it was going to swerve of the road when I maxed it on the M61 at an indicated 115!
The XR4i just felt so stable at that speed.

Not sure if you are aware of the back ground on the "NOO`s" but to bolster XR4i sales in Aug/Sept 83 they registered, around 50/60 cars for mostly for middle management with a high spec, the majority of these car were registered on the 27th Sept 83 and were ran for around 6 months. It looks likely that yours was such a car.Died in 2002 though. frown

Date of Liability 01 07 2002
Date of First Registration 27 09 1983
Year of Manufacture 1983
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2792cc
CO₂ Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour WHITE
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available

Doh I meant 1984 not 94, it cost £5,600 and had a roof no AC, I fitted the black rear number plate trim as you have plus a Blaupunkt CD Discs in individual holders, New York head and a goose neck equaliser with 4 big alpines and a amp - I was young. Will definitely dig pics out
