Would people please stop posting pictures of upside down skips, this is not a builders merchants bloopers page its a fking motoring forum
Some people aren't quite as fortunate as you when it comes to spending money on cars. The op's budget might have been modest and his choice of first car not up to your standards but there is no need to be down right rude about it. You don't like his car, so what, the op is clearly proud to have it as his first car. I suggest you give this thread a miss and concentrate on the one's where the cars are more in your price range.dragonheart said:

I was going to suggest VRS alloys as well. Definitely stick to OEM - so many people go down the route of putting tacky aftermarket wheels on small hatchbacks and it looks awful.
Something like this would look good
Is this the polar opposite of the cheeseyM5 thread, whereby someone is now suggesting they make a petrol car look like a diesel? I may have to go and have a lie down, maybe a cry as well.Something like this would look good

Maybe he should work little harder then and spend less time posting rubbish about his skip driving experiences, he might then be able to step up to 1 series
You're being very naughty. What was your first car, Chim?
Was a spoilt little st though and my first car was Spanky new Vauxhall Vectra mark 1, it had just been released. It was a company car and I managed to crash it into a bollard on day 1 of picking it up from the garage

Keep it standard. Anything else is just making an arse of yourself.
Apart from the PH sticker and the Chinese star, mine is completely stock.
Mind you, there's not that much you can do with them- its covered in spoilers and st already...
What he said, keep it standard. I had alloy wheels on my first car (56 plate Citroen C1) and wanted to put a spoiler on it, looked into turbocharging it blah blah blah. Kept it for 18 months before buying a Megane 225, kept that for 18 months and bought a BMW 650i, kept that for 18 months...Apart from the PH sticker and the Chinese star, mine is completely stock.

Basically, keep it standard as you'll want to move on to something faster when insurance allows it.

I did it the old school way for my first car 5 years ago... a Renault 5 Campus Prima (1.4) I bought for £150

I just cant get over how much newer first cars seem to be nowadays. This is the same as how young coppers are isnt it?
Balls.
It's 12 years old!Balls.
My first car was a 14 year old Capri that was utterly knackered, and looked it.
The Fabia in this thread is a testament to how good cars are these days, and how well they last.

I thought about getting those wheels to start with but I then thought about going for wheels that are a little unusual. The Mk2 Skoda Fabia MonteCarlo wheels appeal at the moment, as do the Mk1 Audi TT Competition wheels.Something like this would look good

Nice motor JT. Enjoy it!
Cheers buddy, will do. We can now organise that TT PDH that we planned a year or two ago.

I had not seen those wheels before but in my opinion, they date the car. The example you posted is three years younger than mine but looks older. Thank you for the suggestion though.

As a first car, it's fine and it's a bit unnecessary regurgitating 80s skoda jokes, which do not apply to the VAG offerings, to slate someone's first car.
Although (as befits someone whose first two cars were a viva and an allegro) I always quite fancied one of 80s skodas. They always did well in the RAC rally so suspect they were better than their reputation. Or at least better than a viva or an allegro ...
