Wasn't particularly looking to buy a classic volvo but when I saw this for sale locally at a very good price I couldn't say no. 1988 740, 1 owner with fsh (like 25 stamps, sometimes 700 miles between them with invoices). If I went to see a 2 year old car I'd be over the moon if it was in this condition.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet but at least it's in my garage now to decide........

That is crying out for an OEM+ subtle power upgrade (2.3 turbo red block), some better brakes, and to be used.

That is mega, if it was mine it would be doing a drift day or 2 at Oulton Park.

You know what to do hehe

That does look immaculate, there is still a lot of these knocking about. Good to see one so clean!

It would be a shame to see such a pristine example getting changed into a drift car. I love the way everything is original its even got the dealer sticker on the back window.

Really good find.

My dad had a 760 GLE many, many years ago and it was an absolute armchair to drive. Great buy! smile

what to do - id simply enjoy the car for what it is.

Far too nice to be drifted imo (for those who suggest that option) - and while the engine upgrades are tempting - one might as well let as it is.

Enjoy biggrin

Dont piss about "drifting" it. It's far too clean for that sort of bks.

T5 engine is apparently very easy to fit....

Brilliant cars. Owned an 86 2.3 estate. Reach quarter million miles when is sold it, still seen 10 years later.
(Wasn't sold here till 87 so was thought to be ex army puchase).

I 'drifted' my dad's one around Brum's Paradise Circus in 1988. If 'drifted' means exiting the roundabout too fast, wildly sliding and smashing into the stone wall on the centre reservation.
