Looks great, do these usually have a load of badges on the back?
Oil filter looks easy to get to
Thanks!Oil filter looks easy to get to
There's usually a toyota and gt86 badge on the back but I tend to debadge all my cars as it just seems less hassle on the odd occasions I do clean them and I also prefer the cleaner look without badges.
Oil filter is indeed very easy to access.

I actually really like those aftermarket wheels, well, would be nicer without that stripe on the edge.
Both sets of wheels looked ten times better for the car being lowered. I reckon a red strip on the aftermarket wheels would look cool and be in-keeping with the colour scheme you're rocking.stew-S160 said:

Yeah the stripe wouldn't have been my choice but it was either black with the yellow stripe or gold wheels and I decided black was more to my taste. Stripe has grown on me though.guitarmandan said:

I've definitely been a lot happier with the look since lowering - seems more in keeping with it as a 'sports' car and I agree both sets of wheels look better for it.magooagain said:
Very nice car. What sort of performance do they push out in stock form? And are there well tried upgrades availiable?
They are supposed to be 200hp in stock form although most seem to be putting out closer to 180hp on the dyno. They definitely are not an about the power car though.Mezzanine said:
Nicely warmed up GT.
I also much prefer the look of the standard wheels over the aftermarket, especially with the lowered stance.
The black wheels and black bodywork make the aftermarkets look too small/lost in the arches IMO.
Nice wheels though, spray them a lighter colour

I kind of wanted to go the all black route with it. Latent batmobile envy clearly!

Looks nice but I think would look even better with the wheels in gunmetal or maybe smoked bronze colour... I'd be tempted to use spacers to offset the wheels back to their original position too - 2kg weight saving is very handy though!
Thanks! I may go to 18's for the summer wheels next year and they will probably be a matt bronze.
The black wheels are actually 8mm lower offset than the standard wheels.

I really do like GT86's, I've never driven one (and don't want to as I suspect "want it" factor will take over) but they are about the only new car which really tickles the "Buy me" button.
I was really happy with the scirocco I had and most things I tried felt like I was just basically paying more for what I already had but the gt86 felt different enough to warrant the outlay I felt.Had the car mapped at Abbey Motorsport on Friday (which Abbey very kindly had donated as a karting prize at a national owners club meet held recently).
I have to say Abbey were excellent and a total pleasure to deal with.
I've attached the graphs below - the fainter line is the before and the darker the after which Mark achieved after several hours of fettling.
As you can see Mark managed to find 13hp and 10lbft extra but what you can really feel is the extra area under the graph all over especially around the 3-5k rpm range where I spend most of my 'normal' driving time.
Mark has also quietened down the exhaust at start up a little (although I feel my neighbours would appreciate more!)
Map 1 has a softened throttle response which I'm not massively keen on at present but I can imagine being very useful in snow, etc
Map 2 is full fat, normal throttle
Map 3 has launch control, rev blipping and flat foot shifting as well as what map 2 has
Map 4 is for low octane fuel use
My car has a catback exhaust and hks drop in filter so obviously bigger gains would be found with more mods (like second cat removed). The map doesn't make a massive difference to how the car drives (not like my last twincharged car where the map gained about 50hp and similar torque) but it definitely adds extra 'sharpness' to the car and is definitely noticeable in day to day driving.
Again, big thanks to Mark and all at Abbey Motorsport.
