So, do you prefer it with stickier tyres or the standard ones, that's the question!

i have one with original eco prius tyres fitted (low mileage, but these tyres last an age). i'm torn between 'upgrading' tyres or keeping the low grip primacys.
i also have a Lotus on sticky Yokohamas, so i get understand tyres and grip. But I'm leaning towards another set of Primacys!

Stickier tyres without doubt. Brings the chassis alive and let's the car perform as it should.

Great looking car, visual upgrades do suit it. See a few on the road these days and do catch the eye.

Think Thruxton were using them for the drift/skid pan training. Tempted to see how they handle.

How did it behave on track, 10minute stints and time to cool. Curious about a modern coupe as mine is pretty old.

They hold up exceptionally well to track use - in fact for me it's where they really shine.

Consumables are cheap too which is helpful.

New winter wheels arrived today. For anyone into their old school Japanese wheels they are Do-Luck Double Sixes. They're MAT formed so should be pretty strong.

Nice car. Have I read it right that you have 3 sets of wheels?

I had five but I've sold one and will probably sell another set soon so I'll be back to three.

I'd like to say it's something really exciting but it's actually just a phone mount (which needs to come off as I've changed my phone!)

Just dropping in to say I really enjoy following your thread and seeing what you're up to with the car. The visual mods you've done make the car look so much nicer and have pretty much convinced me I want one for my next car. I liked the idea from before it was even launched, but the standard car just looks too chavvy for me, with the awful wheels and rear lights and spoiler!

Have you done anything regarding the famous 86 torque dip? I wonder if that would piss me off, coming from a Fiesta ST that is similar power and speed but pulls cleanly right through the range. Test driving a BRZ it felt absolutely fine until I went for an overtake and suddenly felt lacking, I'm wondering if that was due to the torque dip.

Thank you!

I have the car mapped which helps with the torque dip but it really needs a manifold change to fully eliminate it. I drove a friends brz recently with a map and manifold and it is a night and day difference.

Saying that though, it'll never match a turbo'd car for easy overtakes on the road. I know I still miss my scirocco and it's extra 100lbft of torque!

Obviously there's always the option of having the 86 turbo or supercharged but it's not a route I've wanted to take.

Looks really good. What is it like now you have removed the sound generator? I test drove one a while ago and the false engine noise (piped into the interior I aren't sure) really put me off the car. I liked everything else so it was a shame.

I prefer it with it removed and it's easy enough to remove or refit. Although, to be honest, with the other mods, and how little sound deadening they have, I didn't notice it as much anyway.

I sold my old winter wheels and tyres yesterday and so ordered some new winter tyres ready to go on the Do-Lucks today. I've been very impressed with the Nokian WRA3's over the past 5 years and two cars so have gone with their replacements (WRA4's) this time. I've gone for a 225/45/17 which is a little narrower than the 235 I'd have liked ideally but sadly that size isn't available.
