Awesome. What weight are you looking at this being when fully built up?

Good question.
Aim is for 400bhp and 1000kg but not sure what it will end up weighing at as it will be road legal. Not even sure what a group 4 Escort actually weighs in at!

Nutty bar steward. Why is the back end so low? I can see it lifting inside fronts round every corner, or is this the plan smile

Well spotted. The car was set up more neutral before strip and paint. Since paint I have changed the front dampers to full tarmac spec and have yet to set any ride heights. But lifting a front wheel could be fun!

I am just fitting up the body panels and bits of trim. Doors a nightmare to line up when you are trying not to chip the paint! Just waiting for plastic windows to be delivered then off for MOT but no rush as will not be road testing until the salt is off the roads - how about you Finlay?

Been quietly watching this project develop and it's looking great, one question, before the work started was the escort standard or had it been rally modded? Just curious as wondering which is the best way to go.

The car had been a rally car for many years before it came into my hands about 5 years ago. I bought it from a chap who had had the shell for a full group 4 rebuild at Northwest RS Centre (there is a picture of it on their site). Their work included, tubing, weld-in Safety devices cage, new floors, new boot floor, new chassis rails, new 4 link boxes etc etc.
I choose the shell for the LS project as it had had a large tunnel from its very early days as a rally car so it suited me down to the ground.
I have since added extra door bars and extra rear diag. The full fitment of the engine has not impacted on the original spec of the car - hence it can be returned back to full group 4 spec at anytime.

I think I have an unfair advantage when it comes to answering that. hehe

It hides the extra weight well (not that it is much more than a Pinto).
