Mine also makes mince meat of a standard RS as well :-) in a straight line at least...
That's what these cars are all about, and with the power yours is making I'd expect to comfortably outrun a standard RS, you've got a fair bhp advantage when an average RS seems to pull 275bhp on a dyno. I'd be interested to see how good an ST can be made to corner, after all they are a heavy, FWD hatch, the RS does alright but can demolish tyres when pushing on - hardly surprising considering the power and weight of these things.Edited by Carlos24 on Monday 30th December 20:29
I remember seeing a mapped ST testing it's power, driving at 50mph, foot on the floor up to about 90mph, dropping off and having another go, pops and bangs and flames shooting out of the exhaust. They do sound good, these 5 cylinder STs, the new ST has a really, really bland engine in comparison.
The uprated driveshafts are expensive, I thought the rumbling issues had been sorted with the new driveshafts that haven't long been out??
As for the ST being heavy I don't really think that it is all that heavy... 1317kg for the prefaced lift 3 door around 80kg lighter than the facelifted one and a good 100+kg lighter than the RS so making them handle isn't as big of a job as you might think, the trick is getting the front end sorted in my opinion as obviously that's a big lump of an engine to control!
Rolling speed is where my car is deceptively quick I shocked a new shape M3 (v8) not all that long ago rolling from 30-70ish... On a local dual carriageway ;-) it's the torque that does it, in gear it pulls ridiculously well!

Have you had any driveshaft issues??
Have had to replace 3 on a 300bhp one I look after which is also lowered, it's now been returned to stock height to see if they last a bit longer!!
No disrespect but whoever owns that car needs to stop doing fullbore launches and driving like a tool, thats a well known way to kill standard driveshafts when you're 300bhp+Have had to replace 3 on a 300bhp one I look after which is also lowered, it's now been returned to stock height to see if they last a bit longer!!

To be fair I think he went over the top with how far he lowered it which didn't help which is why it's back at stock height to see how it goesCarlos24 said:
Cheers, I am not 100% on it but I don't think it looks horrendous haha... It's staying for the time being anyways ;-)
All nurburgring stickers look horrendous lol.I was very tempted to look at an ST instead of getting my M5. Your car does look good and kind of makes me wish I'd of gotten one, 5 cyl and turbo is a nice combo
Yeah that's not an I've been there sticker at least just where the suspension is tested haha... What shape M5 have you got E39?? Me and my mate were discussing the sound of my car the other day and although it isn't the most expensive car ever it's definitely one of the best sounding ones to my ear... Especially with the modifications that I have done over the time I've owned it :-)

Car looks shiny. Is it an ST 1,2 or 3?Haha, yeah I thought it would be with bilstein being part of the sticker, I'm only ribbing you over it anyway.
Yeah I have an E39.
You should get a drive buy video of it. 5 cyl turbos at full chat sound awesome
It's an ST-2 mate but I have changed the stereo so I have sat nav etc with that... I actually prefer the cloth seats as well :-) I will have to see if I can get the girlfriend interested in filming it for a drive by... But don't hold your breath haha... You get the occasional crack from the exhaust on an up shift which is good :-) I can't imagine that your car exactly sounds terrible! Done much to it!?

That would be cool . I like the leather more personally, but tbh, the Recaro's in the ST are nice in general. I prefer them to the seats in my car.Carlos
Rather than hi-jack your thread, heres a link to mine:

Do you get any over run burble from yours?
A little update, today I had the alignment checked and tweaked slightly at the back to rain the negative camber in that was caused from lowering and then took a couple of pictures that better show the lowered stance :-)
I also removed the insulation from under the bonnet to better aid cooking the engine and let a bit more turbo noise into the cabin under load from the open cone filter, it's fair to say I am pretty chuffed with it now :-) maybe a RARB down the pipeline could be getting added but other than that it's where I want it to be now :-)
