During a recent visit to some of the yachts that I manage in Barcelona I discovered that 'Bamford Mike' was also in town. As he had taken the time to show me around where he works I thought it only polite to show him my place of work.

The first yacht was M/Y GARCON which is a 64mtr chase boat that carries all of the toys for the mother ship (An 87mtr Superyacht). By chance one of the engineers was available to show him around and as it turned out used to be a software engineer for Cosworth.

The second yacht is M/Y QUATTROELLE which is one of our 87mtr superyachts. She was the 'Headline' yacht at the Monaco yacht show this year.

If you want an internal tour of QUATTROELLE here is the link...

Hang on, let me get this right.... you're saying that the boat at the top is used purely as somewhere to store the toys for an even bigger yacht?!!!

Yes, GARCON is the 'Fast Yacht Support' for the mother ship which is an 87mtr 3000gt superyacht with a crew of 31. (Google Motor yacht ACE). Bothe privately owned by the same owner. In addition the photograph of GARCON was taken using the owners helicopter that lives on the back.....

You are a sly one Dave.

Even better than a Hansel and Gretel trail of upgrades leading to a till, take the helpless on a tantalizing tour of the ship you know he will have no resist to charter for next family summer hols. And only @1m per week, I will take it for 6...... but only if you throw in Garcon and the toys smile

The numbers of these vessels is mind blowing, the outright cost, volume of fuel to fill their tanks, crew costs, charter cost to name a few numbers, then there is the engineering of Garcon to make him capable of taking the cargo load and stay a float.

I'm sure we can come to some deal, @ only a couple of thousand BHP per motor, there is room for an upgrade wink

Old topic I know but a friend of mine recently changed jobs and told me he was the Chief Engineer on a Super yacht, the Quattroelle.
I googled it and what was one of the first pictures I saw.
My friend tells me he spends his day's in Dubai Marina polishing the chrome rocker covers. And the Russian working girls!

Mike, you know we've discussed tinnitus, as a rule of thumb, when the other two people are wearing ear defenders, might be worth following their lead wink

Yes, all very well BUT is QUATTROELLE a V8 or V12 and is it a manual or Sportshift
These are the things that really matter here

Two 2,682 hp V16 engines.

My 40,000hp trumps it but the vessel is not as splendid.

But they are Diesel engines, so they are not even engines in my definition.... (yes, I'm aware, even a Manugusta 165 runs Diesel engines).

I've been to Le Mans I think three times over the last 6 years and they are unanimously hated by the guys on the camping fields because there is no sound left. The only upside of diesel and diesel hybrid engines at Le Mans is that you can sleep better during the race...

Ha Ha, just wait until they are all electric cars, then you'll get a really good nights sleep!

yeah, we all going to drive with our electric cars to Le Mans, plug in all our electric gear (heaters, fridges, washing machines, toaster, hair drier etc.) to the huge batteries our cars have and then watch a silent race in all comfort... sounds hurl

It's a shame what happened to Quattroelle. She was purchased by the royal family in the Emirates and as you say now spends 95% of her time tied up in Dubai marina getting covered in Sand. The same family own M/Y Dubai (As well as a few others) so spend most of their time on their.

I am now in Holland getting a 104mtr sailing yacht ready for delivery. She is stunning and will be the largest private sailing yacht in the world when delivered.
