If it is that’s sad. I feel like the plate was different but it seems too close. Someone has pinched the Xenon lights Mark fitted too.

Difficult to tell for sure but quite a coincedence in spec with the black carpet, cream leather, changed dials.

Sad if that's the case. I like the mk4 platform - VWs most successful touring car series was based on that platform.

Sounds like someone's managed to do a head gasket on it from that advert

Driver’s seat looks a bit grim.

Looks like it’s had a hard life since it was moved on. That seat needs killing with fire.

Grim isn’t it. A real shame as it looked immaculate when the OP had it.

Definitely the same car, instrument cluster change matches with the fuel & temp gauges being the originals as does the rear plate plinth having Dovercourt dealership name on it.

KOX is the car. I expected it to have reached ~180k without too much maintenance, but the problem list is quite something!

I wonder if it had a knock at some point? The front valence is missing and there is sill damage on one side. One hub has been replaced with the wrong type. The wheel catching in the arch will be either the incorrect hub, a bent subframe, or even the shell. I bet it was fun to drive smile

It's tempting to buy it back, I must admit, but I'd be faced with doing absolutely everything again, and I just couldn't muster the enthusiasm.

It'll make a good project for someone. It's cheap enough.

I reckon you’re right. No more xenons and the changed parts. Mk4 golfs are hardy, and someone ruined what was a great example in short order.

It would be a good project, but needs a very good going over to make sure it’s ‘right’ again.

Bloody hell, that's a shame to see! Really well thought out car and a very desirable spec list, looks a right shed now!

I'd be heartbroken if I was OP frown

The £2.4k that was being asked for it a few pages ago seemed like an absolute bargain, I was semi hoping it hadn't sold and would become available in a few months!

OP, that car was a real credit to you. My kinda thread!

Thanks very much smile It sold on Facebook - I know because despite saying otherwise I made an offer laugh There's still a bit of life left in it yet so hopefully it is repaired and not broken for spares.

I was very, very close to making an offer. If it wasn't so far away. I have a good spare PD130 engine sat in the garage, as well as a full TT front subframe and associated gubbins. It was just too far away (and I have too many projects ongoing).
