Love that. Always had a soft spot for these, never had one myself though.

Cheers PH'ers. You know when you read about people who can't stop grinning when driving their car, I always thought 'bloody weirdos'....but actually it's true. I can't stop grinning when hooooooning this thing.

As for current spend, I've probably spent just above £2k so far. But now I'm running out on things to buy/change on it.

The only problem I have to fix is the rev counter and oil level/pressure gauge have stopped working. Either dodgy earths or the wiring down by the engine loom connecters.

I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same about the Xsara VTS i have, and find any excuse to take the back roads.

Yesterday I needed some seat covers for the 6' (to save the fronts from any more damage) so decided to take a trip to Halfords. I could have done this quick route:

But no, decided on this:

So went down to CarWurx again to get door fitted and all the innerds swapped over. The paint job isn't the worst but no the best but seen as I'm saving up for a full respray, I can live with it. (new door hinges and pins mean my doors don't *Snap* when opening any more):

Oh, and in other news as of 10 minutes ago.........

Stupid b*****d, f******g s**t right hand lock and stupid b******d high t*******g curb. Looks like I've got something to do tomorrow then.

Edit:
Panic over, managed to sand it down quick and blend it before it got dark:

Sooooo, thought I'd update this as it's been a while.

Firstly, I rectified the poor paint job on the door respray by flatting and polishing it up:
Before:

During 1500,2000,3000 sandpaper:

After:

Then decided to finish the underneath by getting a spare wheel and carrier powdercoated:

Fast forward about 3 months and it started playing up with dodgy high revs on start up, sudden jolt when coming off throttle and hunting idle. This took a long time to fix with maaaany sensors being replaced. These consisted of:

Idle control valve, throttle position sensor, lambda sensor, coolant temp sensor, Map sensor (about £300 worth of sensors just there) Now it's running bang on.

Then just 2 weeks ago bought a set of Bilstein B4 front dampers, Eibach springs and peugeot top mount bearings then had chris at Carwurx fit them. It's probably given a drop of 20mm so I'll have to lift the rear a tad:

And that's where it's at and clocking up the miles as my daily driver.

Small update.

Found a set of cyclones on ebay with the centres machined out for a bargain (now I don't have to pay £10-15 per wheel for centreless balancing anymore). They were in a state so sent them off for blasting then sprayed them at home (proper basecoat and 2k clear):

All finished with the centre caps I had to file down to fit (odd hole diameter):

Also had the clutch changed a few weeks ago along with the folk bushes and it's THE best thing I've had done to the car. If you've ever driven a '6 you'll know how hard the clutch pedal is, now it's lighter than the '15 plate van I drive for work. Next up is getting my gear linkage rods changed for PugRacing.com ones.

Cheers!

Little bit of an update.

I managed to get hold of a Scorpion backbox off Ebay for £40 a while ago (from Turbo-Technics) so fitted that, albeit slightly off centre:

Then if you hadn't realised before, I've never really posted pictures of the passenger side of the car. This is for one reason, The mismatch-off-colour door;

I couldn't stand it anymore so managed to find a great body repair/sprayer in Hunslet (PM me if you Leeds/Yorkshire folk want his details. His unit is the tidiest and cleanest bodyshop I've ever seen) I asked for the full side and the roof to be repaired and painted. He even sends 'during' photos:

(poor finished picture by me)

But now the rest of the car isn't as good (poor paint work from previous resprays it's had) So I'm booking it in for the rest to get resprayed in a few weeks. I will finally have the car in the same shade of colour at last!

Before I sent it to the bodyshop I put my winter steelies on so I could respray my wheels at home. Mixed a bit of black and silver basecoat to make a light grey colour then a couple coats of 2k clear:

Those tyres with overspray on are getting changed anyway so my masking wasn't that neat.

Got a couple new tyres fitted and put the wheels back on:

Will be booking it in to get the rest (drivers side, bonnet, boot) resprayed in a month or 2 when I've a week off.

Very nice. A neighbour had one I was always jealous of, I was running a S plate 306 Tdi into the ground commuting from Hull<>Leeds every day at the time, did 100k pretty much trouble free miles (120k in total on the clock) before dreaded central locking "bounce" crept in. Great car, was not impressed with the 307 and after a terrible experience with a C4 vtr+ I gave up on the whole group.

Great job on the smartening up, did spot the off colour door, if you can see it on a digital photo it's going to be miles off in real life :-)
