Thought I'd change the plugs on the 6' yesterday as I had them in the garage. All went well then took it out for a test drive where 2 miles down the road the EML came on and I had a very bad miss fire...Uh oh.
Limped home, unplugged each coil in turn and found the dodgy coil pack. Unbolted it and found this:
Nice crack right along and the lump on the right is a blob of melted plastic.
Unwound the felt wiring wrap and saw this:
I'm guessing I must have disturbed the wiring and it then touched and shorted itself out while out on the test drive. Not what you want at 4pm and you have work the next day. Picked up a "Bremi" replacement from ECP at 10am, repaired the wiring and all is well and ready for work at 12noon. Even runs smoother so guess that coil was on it's way out beforehand.
