Thought I'd update this now I'm a couple of thousand miles in!

The effortless acceleration from low speeds still amuses me, and surprises quite a few Boy Racers off the lights.

The handling is a slight disappointment, a few other owners seem to be fitting AC Schnitzer springs which lower and firm up the ride - but as a daily car it's not too bad (nothing like a sports car though).

Touch wood, no problems yet - aside from the fact it seems to collect leaves all over like no other car I've had before! There is a hell of a lot of brake dust from the fronts which is annoying, the wheels go from clean to black in a couple of days.

Timely update too... was 1 car behind a similar car that clearly wanted to play between the sets of lights. I have to admit <80mph there's no way I can catch him in my E92 M3. It's pretty nippy!

I have this engine in a 6 Gran Coupe - and it's my first Diesel and I'm pretty bloody impressed, it's perfect for a fast GT. I can only imagine what it's like in a lighter 3 series. In 'real world' driving, it's up there with the best - huge mid-range poke, sounds good for a Diesel, MPG impressive, etc, etc.

I'm glad you're happy with it and the performance vs mpg is impressive - but £50k? I just couldn't stand back and look at it feeling happy at that amount.

Drive the deal do huge discounts on these so a fully spec'd one after discount is c£40k or if you go basic m sport with pro nav and nothing else its £33k. P

I had my one delivered yesterday and I can confirm the body roll is shocking, it literally feels as if it's going to fall over, so I have ordered some springs from AC Schnitzer, will report back how I find it after they're fitted.

Did you not spec adaptive suspension?

Wonder how it performs in the elk test as owner reviews are really bad

I didn't no, I was a bit impatient with it all and just wanted one ASAP, the spec on mine isn't great but I got it mainly for that engine and gearbox which is very impressive, it really does goes well.

I honestly don't find my suspension that bad, although I have the adaptive.

Sure, it's not like my old TVR with Nitrons, but it's not designed to be a sports car - it's a very comfortable cruiser in comfort and relatively nimble in sport (but not as good as an E90 M Sport).

Just been reading with interest the posts and as I am potentially about to take the plunge and get one of these I am starting to wonder about the suspension set up.
Dealer has said that I probably wouldn't need the adaptive suspension but reading this, perhaps I do. I don't want to go daft with options but feel this could be 'one to have'!

Had the previous incarnation 335D and this will no doubt be a different animal altogether.

If OP or anyone else has any advice as to where to get the best deal before I dip into it, please let me know. Dealer is offering decent discount on top of BMW offer but seems to be standard between a couple of dealers I have seen locally.
That's for the facelift version too, due out March apparently so hope to get the car end of March. biggrin

I thought facelift was later?

Speak to Tony at BMW Heathrow, he does good deals.

I've heard bad things about non adaptive cars but not tried it personally, I think the suspension on mine is fine for a fast saloon - but it's no sports car.

That's cool thanks. This is in lieu of a company car (with my little 118D supporting me on occasions where I am feeling a little tight lol).

I'll try Tony if the dealer can't match Broadspeed tomorrow. I'm near Newcastle so bit of a trek to London.
Thanks,

ETA, facelift due. Caught me by surprise also, I didn't know till I started reading up!! Subtle changes but facelift nonetheless.

The cold weather makes these x35ds even more fun nice dense air = more power and torque.

Enjoyed the drive home tonight.

Good reading. Well the deed is done. Negotiated what I think! Certainly the dealer didn't appear too pleased when I presented him with the on line offer to match. But match it they did complete with my chosen options, so happy chappy! Two months delivery so just a waiting game now.
Anyone want to buy an Audi A4 biggrin

Very much enjoying mine too, the acceleration is great, from 100 on it doesn't seem that fast though, but handling is so much better after having the new springs fitted.

Averaging 38.2mpgs, so not too bad.

For the price of adaptive (not much) you'd be remiss not to spec it.
