If it was the passenger seat then it would not be too much of an issue.

I think that they`re at the limit of their profit level and additional cost would eat into it, therefore, I think they`ll say they can`t fix the issue, so tough and flog it to someone else who may not notice
If this one doesn't pan out how you want it to...I wish you all the best in finding another that hits the spot for you.

Good luck. smile

If I should spend my £35-40k on one of these or an M5!
If you can get a decent M5 for that money, and you're not doing mad mileage,......get the M5.

In fairness to the dealer they have agreed there is an issue and have ordered a new frame and rails from Germany and have paid for a hire car as it's going to be available slightly later than initially promised. So, all is back on and will be collecting it Wednesday. I'll post back after a few days into ownership

Just to contribute to the original topic, this was the one snap I managed to get at my collection in February. Have yet to find time to take some decent shots in daylight but will do sometime this year!

This vid 640d sums up perfectly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrtgeUkSQys

My only concerns are

1. Seats seem slightly small
2. Leather not that luxurious unless you have nappa.

Weirdly - people do look at you as though its a super-car

For the price.. I'd trade my 535d for one I think, even feels quicker - no idea why? You know??

My company has one of these in space grey with everything in it including the hugely expensive B&O system. It's done just over 100k but it's in very good condition. If anyone is looking PM me. I think we want 19k for it.

1. Depends how big you are. They are more than big enough for me
2. On a par if not better than any £50-80k car I've driven. Nappa is a league ahead, but the standard is a league ahead of the leather you get in Ford/VW etc, and I would say likewise better than the always too firm you get in Mercs.

640d wouldn't be materially quicker than 535d. Probably a bit slipperier aero wise, and if a later spec, could well have a better version of the ZF 8sp gearbox.

Like the OP I am blown away with the GC.

Picked mine up a month ago and just gone past 1000 miles in it.

The size is a consideration, it does feel quite large on the road but that aside what an absolutely amazing car. Having had all manner of vehicles this rates in my top two.

If I considered all the cars I have owned, with the exception of the Defender 110, I would pick this again.

Amazing car that is obviously unloved by press and public, but defies logic in terms of handling and comfort.

(I do wish i had the heated steering wheel though, rooky mistake forgetting that).

Try the Schnitzer suspension. Costs buttons and make the car feel half the size on the road.

If you have deeper pockets, the £3000 engine kit is also a huge winner wink

Has anyone compared a 6 series GC to the latest 7 series?

There's a chap on here who had a 6GC and bmw loaned him the new 7 series and he said the steering/grip/handling and ride were light years ahead of the 6GC, so high praise for the 7 series for sure.

I think the interior of the new 7 series makes the 6 series feel really dated too.

Cheers, been looking at the leading rates on the 640 GC (£290 pm) but suspect this due to model being late in life and due replacement? 7 seems a generation ahead?

£290/pm? Blimey - that's a huge amount of very nice car for the money!

As per my other thread, I did like the 640d, but having driven the new 7 subsequently, I now realise that the 6GC dynamics and interior are a generation behind, nice though they are. The new 7 has it beaten at everything, except of course the looks - I still think the 6GC is one of the best looking cars on the road.
