So for people who have seen my build thread of my mondeo on here will know that it has next to no practicality (thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Because of this me and our lass have spoken about getting a nice bargain barge for times when we need to carry more than just us two, So poking round auto trader has found this, i pick it up on Saturday (its on a private plate that an old owner did not want but it is a 2000 model)

Not a bad car for less than a couple of grand, its only the 3.2 litre v8 but it goes well enough. now as the modern parlance goes

Let's hope you don't tint the windows and lean back whilst driving... hehe

Do you look like a baller? P's and dat?

Oh and that looks great for the money. I've wanted one for a couple of years now but keep thinking about fuel costs. Going to have to take the plunge soon.

Love the 'german' whip references

In the market myself for one, but gearboxes appear to be a weak link on them

Wondered who would get that reference, i found that music video a few days ago and could not help laugh at how stupid it was

Fuel economy is not the biggest issue because its only really going to be used once or twice a week and for special occasions.

In regards to the gearbox it seems fine but like anything mechanical things wear so it will be a time will tell thing

Very nice OP. I've been enjoying mine since Jan.

Check out Jaguar Steve's X308 buyer's guide on the threads in the Jaguar forum. Main things to get done are the timing chain tensioners and change the gearbox oil for peace of mind.

Indeed. I found the cup holder arm-rest most useful.

now the darker interior in that looks lovely, especially around the gearstick. I have to admit im not really keen on the cream leather surround that mine comes with so im thinking of replacing it with something like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XK8-XKR-Gear-Sele... but that is something to worry about later once i have run the car for a bit.

I hope the weather is as nice when i go pick it up on Saturday as the car sales id on some lovely wafting country roads, perfect jag locations

The under bonnet toolkit was an option. The recess should still have a cover though, even if empty.
