I had a spare lighter socket so installed that myself for the kids to use while I was trying to source the double one, its done the job so well I've never bothered to change it and worked out a lot cheaper!

good job.

The BMW double 12v ive found on ebay for £25, but its the complete rear console without vent. I might just get it and sell my rear console with the blanking plate where the 12v ones are from mine

Got the M3 folding rears in. Picked up all the bits i needed. Its just missing the lower support bracket which i got on order with BMW. Still goes in without it but i wouldn't want it that way for long without it. Bracket should be with me in a few days. Need to get a heatgun to iron out some storage marks in the leather.

Also need to pick up the 2 piece center seatbelt for folding rear seats so its not in the way when folding the seats down like with the current center pulldown belt.

Any idea how much you've spent on all this, in total?

My friend has a 325i and he's being very reserved when it comes to doing any modifications (he ultimately see's the 335 as the one he wants, though, and I get the impression you're happy with the 330d).

I guess I'm still yet to experience the cost of a premium car, but some of these prices make my eyes water!

Sometimes it's difficult to understand the motive behind certain things, but if you're doing something that makes you happy, I think that's all anyone could wish.

Still intrigued at the cost!

Couldnt tell you. £5k-£6K maybe over the last 2 years ? I do also sell things off to make some money back. i.e paid £600 for alloys and sold the originals for £400. Normally what ever gets replaced the part being replaced gets sold off to recoup some of the expenses

Motive for me is......I love the car and its a hobbie. I enjoy making something better or different so it suits my own needs or requirements. I work hard and I pay all my bills and look after my family, whats left i like to spend on the car. For me my car is my personal space and due to my job i can spend 6-8 hours a day in the car so i like everything to be just the way i want it (Also iam a little OCD).

I know that ill never see the money back from what ive put into it, but i didnt do it to increase its value, ive done it for the pleasure that it gives me during the time i will own the car.

I can also put it this way....Buy a new BMW today for £40k, sell it in a few years for £25k....a loss of £15k.....i wont be loosing anywhere near that.

managed to pick up a genuine BMW double 12v socket rear console. Just swapped my air vents and ashtray into the console and spliced the 2 12v socket wiring in to my existing 12v socket wiring under the armrest.

Just ordered 2 genuine BMW 12v socket blank plugs off ebay for £6 to finish it off.

Every so often I keep thinking about swapping mine for something else, but there really isn't anything else that looks as good!

Fitted a BMW 2 piece rear center seatbelt to finish the retrofit folding rear seats

with this belt, it separates so when folding the rears down it doesn't stretch out the center belt with it.

Heres what the standard center belt does when coming from non-folding to folding rear seats

Original vs BMW 2 piece

Have to make a right mess to change the rear center belt. seats down, C pillars removed and parcel shelf removed.

center belt installed

Another small update

BMW rear seat nets installed on both front seats and the rear cigarette lighters now have BMW blank plugs in them.

On a factory folding seat, the small clip on the centre seat belt clips into a holder on the parcel shelf.

having folding seats in a saloon makes such a big difference, very worthwhile modification!

Managed to pickup LCI grey boot carpet so i can move the warning triangle from inside the boot and install to the boot lid carpet. Got the 2 x brackets and bolts on order from BMW for £2.69, got an LCI warning triangle coming from ebay for £7 and the carpet cost me £14 from ebay, so all for under £25 and i will make that back from selling my pre-lci warning triangle with brackets and carpet.

this will just look neater and tider and follows on my LCI theme. only thing i think i wont swap to LCI are the wing mirrors as i think the Pre-Lci mirrors look better.

my pre-lci warning triangle install. will post up picks of LCI triangle install when ive got it all.

Given the OEM+ nature of the build, I'm surprised you've not sourced the rare BMW sliding boot tray.

Nope, E90/2 only.

It fits to the underside of the shelf, and gives you a sliding drawer.
