If it's only a Weekend car it makes more sense to have a turbo wink

But you've done well with this so I imagine you're quite attached to it.

Fwiw, so far I'm finding the difference between na and turbo to be night and day in many ways.

I had a 7 yr old imported Mr2 Turbo back in the late 90's . It had a very well fettled engine / turbo courtesy of the Japanese owner but the exhaust and external appearance was pretty much standard . It really took me by surprise when I got to open it up properly. It was amazingly quick . It handled very well in the dry once the tyres were warmed up but it was an accident waiting to happen in the wet.

It had an overlay on the speedo to read in mph rather than kph . In fifth it would do 25mph for every 1000 rpm , it would happily pull to 6500 rpm , well off the clock by then biggrin

Of all the cars I've owned that had to be the best performance relative to the purchase price (£3100) I've ever known.

I also keep an eye on the classifieds in the hope of finding something similar

I always wanted a turbo, but after I spun my n/a mr2 in the wet at low speed, I bottled it and got an ST205 GT4 instead!

What do you think of the st205 gt4? I've been looking at them more and more recently.

I've read that the turbo Mr2's are very rapid, I've never been in one though.

Love the ST205, I've had two of them, first was a black wrc.

The second was silver, it was a great car too, but not as nice as the black WRC.

Same engine as the mr2 turbo, but the mr2 will probably feel quicker even if running similar power, and yes it's rapid as standard, even more so with a few easy mods smile

Pound for pound it's probably the best of the japanese 4wd rally reps, having had an evo and a impreza, you'll have to spend a bit more to get a decent example of either, compared to the GT4 imo.

Thanks for the info

What kind of reliable power can be achieved with these 'easy' mods? I'm just curious however as I don't plan on changing just yet smile

Been a while but full exhaust, filter + downpipe and a boost controller at 1.1 bar, should see around 280bhp, I assume it would be the same for an mr2 turbo.
