First let me start by saying something. This car is fast, not just fast but the way the owner remapped it and did various modifications. This car is mind blowing fast, its dangerously fast. Yes going from a vw golf 1.4 to this big/small Vw polo does add to the factor but when you put your foot down and those turbos kick in that's proper German power.

The car is on coilovers, and has been smoothed in various places. It came with BBS alloys painted in black and green surrounding to match the cars colour. Other mods include anti roll bar, ecu chip, intercoller, air filter and other things which I will add if anyone is interested. The car is very much a sleeper. But an expensive sleeper. (The bbs wheels give the speed away I guess).

I got it with only 76k on the mileage and as you know vw diesel engines, in particular the pd engines can last forever. He did p/x my Vw Golf and I did pass him a bit of money.

The car is astonishing on fuel, when I was driving back from cambrige I managed 76.5mpg which is amazing. Compared to the golf which was s**** on fuel.

Hope you guys enjoy the pics and if you see a vw polo with ph stickers on it make sure you honk.

Be nice smile

If that was a 130 engine originally and it's been sensibly modified it could be chucking out around 180bhp which wouldn't exactly be slow in a little car like a Polo, and it will be pretty damn nippy in-gear because of all the torque.

Wouldn't be my choice, but coming from a 1.4 Golf I'm sure a tweaked TD will feel insanely quick by comparison.

Do you have any details for the engine work that was carried out by the previous owner ?

These PD engines are as reliable as they come, but I have see many Ibiza Cupras with the 160hp 1.9 PD (popular choice among the Chav brigade here) blown up due to bad tuning.

But I have once been given a ride in a 1.9 with a BMW X5 3.0 turbine and some other work, and my God, was it fast... until it blew up. Apparently 275hp and 550Nm of torque!

I've got the Fabia version of the same engine, i think mines standard but its still very quick!! So much quicker than the original 0-60 times (around 2 seconds quicker)

We have a 2007 Polo in our household. Bought for £8500 brand new.

Apart from the yearly service we have spent about £50 on it in 7 years.

Never seen one in that shade of green before

Traction is crap, i do have to drive slow in 1st and 2nd as it just spins. The car has been to santa pod as stated by the previous owner and has beaten alot of top marques (shown to me by video). The main reason was I needed a diesel and these cars on motorways average 77mpg, and it being small meant low insurance, the difference being 200quid. 179 BHP AND 242 IBFT.

You lot may take the mick but the way it takes corners is epic. I woke up at 3 am just to drive on country roads and just want to do that everyday. Its tuned not to much but in a way which is enjoyable. The ride is very harsh but i`ll get used to that.

That amount of power and torque in a Polo will make it quite fast. smile
