All I said it was boring and normal in my opinion. Its just a normal car, it handles well and has good acceleration all round good car. Its a good work horse.
Pretty sure a 320d would be about the same speed as the Polo? And would 100% drive better I have no doubt in that. I respect your enthusiasm but some of the claims you are making are just ridiculous.

At your age I bet it does seem very fast indeed, but it's not. It's the sense of speed caused by the turbo's. These are great little cars though and can provide very good MPG and a decent turn of pace when remapped. Would love one for my commute.

Good economy for sure but 77mpg? I suspect the trip computer is lying.

Best I've had from my Leon FR TDI (150hp 1.9 diesel remapped to 175hp) is a genuine 58.4mpg and that was on a long motorway run at an indicated 70mph (actual 66mph) most of the way.

The Leon isn't much heavier or less aerodynamic than the Polo and I believe the top gear ratios are similar, at around 33mph/1000rpm.

Funny how in the space of a week you've gone from telling us all about your P+J Polo to casually mentioning that it's now only a second car! wink

ILC, just out of interest, does it lift off oversteer much?

My stripped Lupo does it like hell, best way to take empty roundabouts!!

And whats yours?

Maybe he just really likes his car and now the usual PH bell ends have turned up with the snobbery he feels like he needs to try and justify himself.

Thought that might have been obvious, but perhaps not.

I just didn't understand why he listed those cars... what snobbery? Read back through the thread, I've been posting friendly-ly(?) smile

Is it even faster than your 1.4 Golf? Cos I remember reading about how much faster than all your friends you were when you had that! I assume you're now leaving them for dust?

Still a bit concerning that you're not 100% sure what's been done to it...

The post I read before this was about the 600ish bhp ibiza. gotta love the varied community here.

anywhoo, drive slower on LH corners than on RH ones for reasons mentioned above.

Jesus, leave the lad alone! So what if his mpg claims might be a bit hopeful. He's obviously a car enthusiast - just a different car enthusiast to others.

I'm sure a good proportion of those making snide remarks drive mediocre cars and think they're great!

OP: enjoy you car! don't go crashing it biggrin

Everything's faster than a 1.4 Golf, 200bhp barely drags mine around, i dread to think what it's like with 75bhp* hehe

Really? 200bhp in a 1270kg car isn't enough? Sounds like a pretty damn good power to weight ratio for a 'pop to the shops and pick up the kids' kind of car.

Isn't that over 150bhp per ton? You'd need 300bhp in a big BMW to have that kind of ratio.

75, I agree, would be a bit gutless!

I believe he's referring to the Golf, which is ~1400Kg

MK7 is much lighter - see the specs on the VW website. I was impressed.
