VW POLO 1.9 TDI
Discussion
Other than adding the exhaust and fixing the condensation in the headlights. I have to fix the central locking and improve security a bit. PH smiley comes next week so cant wait to stick that on. Few scratches on the rear bumper, thinking of taking the back seats off all together and do a mini gp kind of thing. All in all its ready for meets and summer!
the previous owner said it was a guy who specialises in ecu chips for vw diesels in Leicester. It has not been remapped as far as I know. Ill check the paper work later on and let you know as the folder is huge. Ill take a picture and show you the mpg, im only saying 77mpg based on what it tells me.
OP, how old are you?
I'm going to go where everyone else is dancing around.
There are quite a lot of massive power, 100k plus builds from red victor to the couple of 1000bhp plus Supra's on here not to mention the quantity of super cars that have been posted in Readers Cars recently.
It's natural that if it's your first or second car that you'll feel that it's ballistic in comparison to the car you learnt to drive in. It might be worth getting a pax around a circuit in a really quick car for a frame of reference.
I've got a Lotus Elise and consider it pretty pedestrian compared to most cars on here.
Not trying to piss on your chips. It's great that you're passionate about driving and getting up early to go for a drive is a cool PH'er thing to do. Just maybe tone down the hype over your car and you'll save yourself from getting the piss-taking comments.
All the best bud.

i like it, i love the enthusiasm and passion for your car thats what this sites all about isn't it??.... bet its feels awesome coming from the golf and i actually like this engine too, i drove a 1.9 200hp fabia VRS and it was absolutely rapid.... tiny power band but it really really quick.... enjoy it, space wheels a little, get some brake mods on the go, and enjoy it, nice car OP.
The car at the moment is very low meaning I have to drive 1mph over bumps. Its 50mm low, if I do get it even lower it would make it undrivable over bumps. The look I would like would be like a beach kind of car, add a roof rack with a surf board/bike and adjust the dampers a bit.
Clean look
roof rack is yummy here

The car looks fine as it is. Sticking huge spacers on it will mean that you'll lose the drive-ability you currently have as it'll put more strain on the hubs/driveshafts pretty much all load bearing points in the suspension.
You'll also start losing paint on your arches where any bump when your wheels aren't dead straight will mean that the wheel will more than likely hit the arch.
You'll also look like a total gimp.
As it stands it's a nice looking little car without drawing too much attention to itself. That's exactly what you want at 18 when you are driving a nippy diesel.
If you are intent on spending loads of money on it I'd personally buy some Polo GTi seats/interior parts and make sure it's well maintained. MWStewarts Fiesta shows what can be done with a basic car and a load of effort.

Its got brembo pads back and front Cant have that power and no stopping. Can you walk me through spacers? Im sure if I do get spacers it would rub against the wheel arches?
on the spacers , if you go for a conservative spacer theirs no reason it will rub really but as with all mods just keep an eye on it, from what I'm seeing a 10-12mm spacer will be more than enough and look decent too, if the car is on coil overs maybe bring it up a touch as it does look very very low, i think this car would look VERY cool on banded steel wheels... i just love them!! your car would REALLY work with a nice set of these!!!I remember when i was 19 i went from a 950cc mk1 fiesta to a mk2 xr2 and it felt "devastatingly fast" I had the most fun ever in that car and ive owned some pretty serious motors since then but nothing compares to times when your are young and you get your first quick motor its a great feeling and experience. 180bhp + a decent chunk of torque in a polo is going to be pretty nippy by most peoples standards. The kid is 19 and clearly passionate and enthusiastic about his car, Is this not the point of being a piston head? Don't tone down your enthusiasm at all kid.Enjoy your motor and be happy your not a miserable sod that needs to be in a porsche to ever crack a smile.

Could not agree more you dont need big horsepower etc to have fun I remember when I had a clio williams when younger it may not have been the fastest car around but its about how a car drives and feels and it was certainly a riot on the right road and just in terms of FUN factor would put cars costing (and with more power) to shame.I say good on you enjoy your car have fun and ignore anybody that knocks you on here.People forget we all had to start somewhere at the end of the day and at 19 I think your doing pretty well mateChris
