Its the power to weight ratio which is impressive. The back seats where removed today as I don`t need them aswell as the space saver. The power in the car is perfect and the handling is spot on. Its time to shed weight. Any one know how I can control the tire spinning in gear 1 and 2 as a little press on the gas it spins. As a result of this I have to set of really slow.
What is the bhp/ton?

What tyres are on it? Some better ones and a bit more throttle control will make a big difference

I need to calculate that, getting the car put on scales as well as checking the BHP on Saturday. The tyres im not sure which make they are haven't really checked. I think a new set of tyres will be needed, which I will do when the BBS goes in for a refurb next week.

The same black and green outing as they really suit the car. It just has a few curbing marks but I love the orginal bbs alloys wouldn't want to change them. The green outing matches the colour of the car. Its one of the key features that people look at.

I don't know if you can see it, but the area around the vw badge are quite corroded. That`s the same on all the rest.

Quite a heavy lump of an engine for a polo, i imagine taking seats and spare wheel out etc has made it even more nose heavy?
I had a Golf Tdi 130 and the map was so aggressive that it just span the wheels in 2nd and 3rd even 4th in the wet as soon as it came on boost, got tiresome after a while. Was good for overtaking though..in a straight line..in the dry.

I bought continental tyres today for the car (previous ones where some unknown brand) and it has improved the grip but still spinning the tires in 1st, 2nd and even 3rd today when it was raining. Its quite dangerous but I mean it handles spot on but just spins when you give a boot full.

Good move, mine was on st tyres to be fair, a lesson learned.
Will be interested to see your dyno figures, predictions?

Well the new exhaust would give an extra 4-5 bhp and including the diet. Im pushing for 185bhp possibly? Around the same torque level (242-245). If it does reach that then id think that would be more than enough. I think this car would just need more stripping e.g carpets, audio, power steering pump.

Less weight will give you less traction.

By better mapping I don't mean more power, just a less severe power curve.

I imagine at the minute its nothing > nothing > nothing > OMGBOOST > wheeze > change gear

Mine certainly was, and could definitely have done with a smoother torque curve

Im 18 years old, not a 50 year old sap. When I do get to that age where my belly hangs over my belt maybe I will calm down. But you know how it is when a adolescent teen is driving a 1.9. Its hard not to calm down.

P.S Jeremy Clarkson for PM smile
Dear boy would you like to take this 50 year old on with his beer belly?

Not bad, I guess.

I had a 243bhp Ibiza Cupra a while ago, the same chassis as this car.

Even with every suspension modification possible it still drove like a piece of st.

Wait til you drive a properly good handling LSD equipped FWD car and you'll soon eat your hat on the "ILoveCorners" claims lol.

Integra Type R should do it :P
