Today I was thinking about my nearside wing, which has poor paint peel at the moment. I got thinking about alternatives to simply bolting on a new wing or having it painted again. Both of those solutions will leave it mismatched to the rest of the car anyway.

Well, the company I work for often work with a vinyl company, and this got me thinking I could get something a bit different for a little while.

I've always liked the rising sun logo, and thought it would look quite good, so I did these quickly to get an idea of how it might look...

What are peoples thoughts?

Not necessarily these colours. Maybe having the wing wrapped in a red to match the body of the car, and the sun in another shade of red, so it's more subtle...

And hopefully if I did get this done, it would be completed with much more artistic finesse than I have biggrin

Very nice. What sort of state were your old ones in?
One had been replaced by an incredibly thin tube crushed in a vice, the other was a stock one which made a noise rather like a carrot when dropped to the floor!

It'd certainly be different: there's a pic of one on the underside of an engine cover on the MR2 OC site somewhere.

Only ordered these on Thursday afternoon! There's nothing like coming home to car parts biggrin

So looks like i'm going to be very busy tomorrow - and the girlfriend is away. Couldn't have planned it better.

Just been spraying wd40 on all the bolts - can't wait to get started! biggrin

I did order some plus gas/pb blaster but it didn't arrive in time - let's hope wd40 does the job for once!

Love them. A Rev 2 Turbo was the second car I ever owned, and the fastest! Id still have one now if I could trust one as a DD.

PLEASE do not do the rising sun graphic. These cars are old now, and their looks are VERY dependant on colour + wheels combination. Putting graphics of any type on them means instant shed.

They are bloody fast aren't they?? biggrin Any pics of yours?

To be honest I probably won't go ahead with the graphic - will just bide my time until I see a wing that is a close match. But import wings are rare...

Anyway, mechanicals, and then bodywork beer

What he said.. Stay clear of the graphics, I've owned a few over the years and loved every last one of them.
Here is a couple of pics of my last one

I would have quite liked a white one - one of the few cars it looks good on IMO.

I've been watching your thread. I think it pushed me to sell my NA and get a turbo to be honest.

Are you still using the HKS induction kit? Recently saw on the facebook group that one got sucked in by the turbo!

If you want rid of your floor mats, let me know. smile

Yes still got the HKS but I have the below on order from the USA .

http://www.emspowered.com/storefront/index.php?mai...

It should help as im running a stage 2 turbo with cut back exhaust blades and 360 deg thrust bearings

Yes the mats are in good nick and think I will be keeping them .

Next on the list is a Whiteline rear anti roll bar then breaks .

The shift bush kit for £ 10 is a very good mod that you may want to look in to .

That looks like a very nice induction kit.

So, i've fitted the decat with new gasket but unfortunately the same blowing sound remains. I suspect it's a bad manifold to turbo gasket or the exhaust manifold gasket itself. But i'm going to take off the intake pipes as well to make sure nothing has worked it's way in there.

Took about 6-7 hours to install the decat as some of the turbo bolts are very stubborn and very nearly rounded off a bolt on the old downpipe, but just got it off in time by hammering on a 13mm socket. We also had problems because people report that you don't need to remove the oil cooler to remove the cat, but this is clearly not true. We needed an extra 1-2mm clearance to remove. The elbow simply would not clear the oil cooler. We didn't remove it though, just loosened it off, which allowed some needed movement.

We had to remove these components (plus cross brace out of pic)

I did go for a drive, and the decat gives a very nice, throaty sound. The turbo also spools sooner as claimed. Can't complain, it's much lighter than the cat anyway!

Now need to decide whether i want to remove the turbo and manifold myself or let my mechanic deal with it.

Interestingly, the cat looked in very good condition inside!

May try that. I've a CT20B doing nothing at the moment and a man with a big mill next door who can true up any errant flanges. Makes sense to do both at once.

A ct20 and decat would change your car drastically. Make sure you read up on the different behaviour of the ct20 vs ct26. I think I much prefer how the ct26 works. More punchy and useful.

Definitely worth a try though if the ct20 is just gathering dust.

Well, I've got a complete Rev 3 engine gathering dust............

With the CT26 the car reminds me of one of the supercharged Bini Cooper Ss -- excellent throttle response, bit it's all over way before the red line. I think I'd like more traditional turbo behaviour. Still, I've got to get it through the MOT, complete the suspension rebuild, and fit a more up to date radio before that.

And -- it seems -- I don't really have to do much more than check the fuel pressure, so it's eminently reversible.

My CT26 hybrid on my rev 3 has the best of both worlds good pull low down and power all the way up till 6600 RPM .

Had a spare set of wheels so thought I would try them on as the rear tyres were just illegal on my old wheels and these all have good tread...

Not too sure if I like them but costs nothing to run around on them for a bit smile

Anyone going to South East Gathering tomorrow? I'll see you there. Hope the traffic isn't too bad on the M25 coming from East London frown
