...or Eunos Roadster to be precise.
After selling my Fiesta I thought I'd send a quick message to a friend of mine to see if he was selling his car...a bit out of the blue although I remembered him saying he'd probably sell it come spring...I was in luck.
I used to work with him and he bought this late last year as a winter runaround to save his mk2 Golf from the salt; I liked it straight away but I hadn't done more than take a quick look around in the car park.
I took a friend to go and have a proper look around it and I was quite pleased. It needs a few things to tidy up but nothing major. He says it owes him £1200 including a hardtop (wrong colour, aftermarket, not great condition) but a deal was done at £1140 for the car, the hardtop and 6 months tax. I was hoping to pay less but I got stung with the tax as it ran out last month. All in all I'm happy with the price I paid. The colour is Montego Blue and looks much better in the flesh, especially in the sun where it kind of flips blue/green.
The car came over to the UK in 2008 and has been covered, literally, in waxoyl. Other than a fairly poor job at a repaired sill, the bodywork is in great condition. The sill job is barely noticeable, even on close inspection, but I will keep an eye on it over the next year. Mechanically all seems well, It's going in on Thursday to repair a blowing flexi pipe and it would benefit from a little refresh of some bushes but not causing any problems as it is.
The car is fairly standard. It has some 14" BMW BBS wheels, 1 of which in a bad state, I believe it's on Bilstein shocks and looks slightly lower than others I've seen and it has a Jasma manifold and exhaust system. Other than retrofitted speakers in the drivers headrest that's about it...apart from 3 mysterious switches located under and around the steering column
I've already bought a few cleaning products to bring the discoloured roof up to scratch but the car has been treated to a wax already so not much to do for a while there.
Things to do:
Fix flexi pipe - done by the end of the week
Change gearknob (currently a differential gear selector from a Disco)
Fix aerial
Freshen suspension/bushes
Buy a new dash as this one is cracked (or buy a non slip mat to cover it for the time being)
Move the front number plate off centre
After all that writing, I'll leave you with a couple of crappy phone pics...sorry! I plan on taking some better ones when I get out for a drive in the next few days.

Don't be sad!
Looks like a great base - after the freshen / repairs are done what other plans have you got?
I like the look of these more and more, and the prices seem to have bottomed out, good ones appear to be worth a little more these days.
If I can sort out some storage at home I'd like one of these to work on - would love to have a standard looking Mk1 with some serious power!

Great base, I have rebuilt a couple in recent years lots of cheap fun if you are handy with a spanner,
Only sold mine as I wanted more power and the mx5 was not going to deliver it for the money I wanted to spend,
so now I'm experimenting with an SLK as is quick enough in standard form

I think future plans will be limited with being at university now. I'll be away on ship from Aug to Feb pretty much so maybe next year will see more things happening.
I would like coilovers and some fresher wheels but won't be 'stanced' as it's a daily and I can't be arsed with the problems that will bring. At the moment I'm just keen on getting it tidy.
Flexi is getting sorted as I type. The culprit...
Gave it another wash today too, wheels have come up well...3 of them at least.
And just a pic to show the colour a little better, it's hard to capture

Looks like an S-Special II?
Is the text on the 'Roadster' boot badge a sort of light green? This means it was one of the later ones iirc.
I loved mine to bits.
I can put you in touch with a bloke who may have some of the BBS centrecaps for cheap for you if you like, but can't post on here because it's frowned upon as advertising...

I'm not sure if it is a special or not to be honest. The writing is green as you say, which I haven't actually seen before and it has the teardrops on the doorcards, if that means anything. There is a sticker in the door shut and doesn't have anything mentioned. Is the text on the 'Roadster' boot badge a sort of light green? This means it was one of the later ones iirc.

I have the centre caps for these, I think I just prefer them without...at least for the time being.

Quick update:
Been using the car daily now for over a month, the only real problem at the moment is creaky bushes at the rear end. Oh, and by chance I found it has been fitted with angel eyes...could have been embarrassing!
However, I've now decided rather than keeping the car off the road until I'm back home next year, I'm going to put it up for sale in the next week or so. Although there are other reasons for doing this, a main one is I just haven't gelled with it how I'd hoped while using it daily. As a weekend car this might be a different story, but I think I've finally made my mind up that I just prefer a big car. My old BM aside, a car I enjoyed driving (as a daily) was my Dads old 75 diesel! Just a nice, comfy place to be and lazy...suits my driving style 95% of the time.
