Great thread.

Still looks good and runs good and, like the VW Corrados from around the same period, has aged well.

Interior doorpanels and carpets could perhaps do with replacing in darker, cleaner materials to perfect it.

Fantastic story; big props to you for having the balls to dive in and follow up a potentially good car, and also having the persistence and sheer bloody-mindedness to track down the history to turn a potentially good car into a great car..

Hat d'offed to you sir!

You beauty! A bucket-load of man-points for this...hope she's a good one (the car that is...that the wife didn't immediately divorce you suggests she's alright).

One for the bucket list certainly. I'm sad to say I've never even seen one in the flesh that I can remember.

Top work sir and all the best with it

Great story and some superb sleuthing. Cheap car IMO. Enjoy it and keep it in rude health. I remember the first time I drove one I was gob smacked and the performance on offer. Brilliant car! smile

Great car!

Previous owner sounds a bit of a git for 'selling' the history though as his beef wasn't with you. Great to have it though regardless.

Top work sir!clap

I have always wanted one of these but I'm not sure I could handle the emotional roller coaster the potential bills could cause me! I wish you luck, keep us updated

Love the fact you managed to reunite car and history! Brilliant.
This. An exceptionally difficult challenge IMO. You did well although I'm sure you must have been worried about "private nuisance" from the ex-owner hehe

Great read, and top marks for your endeavor in getting the history, hope the car gives you many years of enjoyment, and I personally think you've got yourself a bargain, for about the price of a new fiesta st you have got a great motoring icon. Best of luck.
