I doff my hat.

There are few genuinely legendary cars, and you now have one.
Great story in the purchase too.
Excellent stuff and many thanks for posting.

Nice.

The last time I was sat in one was on the main straight at Hethel. Speedo sat between the last two graduations on the far right!

Ace car, hope you have a long and happy ownership with it. People who think these are "just another Vauxhall" are so mistaken.

Sorry if this lengthy post has bored you,
It didn't, but please stop hitting the @ key and saying illicit when you mean something else.

Apart from that, I'm jealous and I hate you....smile

Previous owner sounds a bit of a git for 'selling' the history though as his beef wasn't with you. Great to have it though regardless.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought that!

Still, that's an epic car OP and well done on having the balls to buy it. May it be as good as you always hoped it would be!

I don't think this thread would bore any member of PH.

Lovely car. If you repaint/ spruce up the engine bay it'll be perfect

You could buy a vx220 to go with it and keep it in the boot

You are a hero in my eyes. An iconic car saved from a indecisive future.

Without people like you there wouldn't be any of these left on the road.

Ok there's pitfalls, but cross that bridge as and when.

Hope it satisfies.......and then some.

Right now, this 1 private owner + demo Lotus Carlton, with full history and genuine mileage of 84600 owes me £16400. That includes all fuel from today, and putting VED on her, and the cleaning materials I bought, and lunch.

'You actually went and spent fifteen grand on a 20 year old vauxhall didn't you.'
My guess is somewhere in the region of £1000.

A lot but possible adds as much as 10 times that to the value of the car.

Have you seen the size of the boots on these things? I had a Senator way back, you could almost lie down with straight legs in it, it was huge.

I think £700+ for history is a bargain. Good bargaining wink
