Heh! My first new company car was an Orion, way back when.
G551 MYC, black 1.6 Ghia (company wouldn't fork out for the 1.6i).
Was a great little car - I suspect this turbocharged one is a bit of a handful.
They look tiny on the roads now compared to modern stuff…G551 MYC, black 1.6 Ghia (company wouldn't fork out for the 1.6i).

Yes it’s definitely fun on boost… need to hold on

Always had a soft spot for the Orion having got an early one in 1984. 1.6 GL in Sunburst Red.
Got it by accident really, trading in my Fiesta , I wanted an Escort , ideally an XR3i , but the insurance put me off.
The Orion had only been out about 6 months and sales were slow , so you could get a better discount than the Escort, so model for model it was cheaper, even though Ford were pitching it between Escort and Sierra.
The GL came with 5 speed box , sensors for oil, brakes and even windscreen washer, and the aerial built into the rear window., all quite advanced for that class of car fir the time.
Kept it for 7 years and 170 000 miles.

I’m not sure the wheels are to my taste but the rest of the car is perfect. My parents had one, G470 GKG if I recall, I’m what I remember to be the same colour.
That was replaced with a rounder one on an L plate when they came out. The grey one came with us to Jersey in 1990 on holiday, great memories!

I love my Borbet’s very period wheel and look perfect in the flesh imo…
Gotta have a retro wheel on a retro car
