Did I say it wouldn't be for a while? I was just kidding myself.....
Man Maths kicked in again and I decided a nice set of Oz wheels with track rubber that still has a few outings left on it was a better option than new track tyres for my el-cheapo 15" wheels. eBay is a very dangerous place
Also ordered the rear ARB.
Must actually book another track day at some point

Got the new parts fitted yesterday.
The ARB has made a huge difference, the car feels much more neutral and settled in corners with a lot less understeer. Must just remember that I've not actually got any more grip from the tyres, just less understeer I'm definitely looking forward to trying it out on track. It's currently on the soft setting so I'll see how that goes, it will be easy to change to the hard setting on the day.
Weather permitting I'm off to Brands Hatch on the 8th.

Got the new wheels fitted today, couple of new AD08R's on the front as well.
I love the way they look and more importantly they seem to drive a lot better than the bigger wheels too, although the real test will be on the track.
Unfortunately I'm leaking coolant from somewhere
Can't tell exactly where because of the undertray but it looks like either the rad or bottom hose as the bottom of the radiator is wet. I'm hoping it's the hose but I'm not usually that lucky.......

New radiator fitted, thankfully it wasn't expensive. Does mean that in the last six months I've now spent more than the purchase price on both of my cars. No wonder I'm skint!
I've removed the rear seats and isofix bar, that's around 25 to 30kg of completely useless weight gone. The new wheels and tyres are a good bit lighter too, every little helps and all that.
Just got to put a few miles on the new tyres to get rid of the release agent before hitting the track next week, not exactly going to be a chore

I always regret not doing more to my 182's but did'nt have them long enough. Really liking the retro wheels and glad to see them paired with decent tyres, I've run them on a couple of my cars with good results, I hope they work for you on track, good luck! Looking forward to reading your report.
It was way too slippery at Brands to find out anything much. The AD08R definitely get heat into them in the wet much more easily than the AD08, that was about all I learned as I slithered round while grinning like a moron. Great fun

Nothing to report, the 182 has been hibernating in the garage since slithering around Brands.
Jobs for the new year are to put the cat back on (I pinged the noise meters at Brands, can't be arsed with that happening again) and give it an oil service.
I'll be doing either Brands or Bedford GT in March, and I'm hoping to get a chance to drive Spa in July but I'm not sure if I can make it.
Also I'd like to suggest this as one of the best MoT advisories ever:
It's also completely true

I've been using the Clio to commute in for the last couple of days while the S60 was in for a service. Much though I love the Clio a couple of hundred commuting miles in two days does make you appreciate a more refined car.....
Realised that I've not really had a proper play in the Clio on dry roads since I had the new tyres on so I took it out for a proper thrap the other day. It's brilliant. Changing from the 16" wheels to the 15"s with the AD08's on has just turned it up a notch, feedback is so much better and it just darts around corners without feeling nervous.
I've had the cat put back on, it was just too noisy with the decat pipe in place for an old fart like me. I do miss the crackles and pops but at least I shouldn't be troubling any noise meters at the next track day.
Off to Bedford next weekend for a proper test, absolutely cannot wait.

Did I say Megane 265 Cup? I meant Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo, of course. <drool>
Just off out to swap the tyres around on the Clio prior to next weekend at Bedford. The AD08R on the front warms up much more quickly and grips better than the AD08 on the back and since I'm taking a friend out for his first trackday drive I think a little understeer would be preferable to a little oversteer

Had huge fun at Bedford, as usual I was one of the slowest cars there but didn't care at all. The car is just so chuckable and gives bags of feedback. The tyres held on really well, had to cool them once or twice but other than that I was delighted with them.
I did run out of brakes at one point, but just modified my driving style a bit to look after them and that was fine. I see a higher temperature set of pads in my future
The clutch was juddering quite badly last night but seems fine this morning so I'm guessing that was just a heat issue.
Bloody *love* this car!

A lap and a bit from the last Bedford GT outing:

I've priced up a new set of front pads and a couple of small suspension upgrades (camber kit and some springs), just umming and ahhing over when I'm going to order and fit them. I think they'll have to wait until next month.
Hoping to get the 182 out of the garage this weekend and give it a good thrashing round some good roads, but we'll see what the weather does and if the lure of playing with the Alpina instead is too much to resist

And so it begins......
Just bought a set of shocks (staying OEM) and have put together a shopping list consisting of goodies to refresh the rest of the suspension. Cooksport springs and new front wishbones for sure, probably some solid top mounts with a strut brace and some camber bolts and plates too. Then a good look at all the other bushes, do any that are tired, followed by a geo set up.
Just got to pay for it all.....
