Pretty cool videos. A charged EP3 is quite a deceptively quick car!

Ooh moma this must be insane: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-HONDA-CIVIC-TYPE-R-...

Would rather build my own for that kind of money though!

I saw that the other day, it's a hell of a car. £13k for an EP3 seems bonkers even to me though hehe

Normally cars at this kind of level end up getting broken for parts when the owners realise that they're not going to get back what they expected!

Very true, can't believe how low the torque is for the 500 bhp, 299 lb ft although it revs to nearly 9k!

What's your cruising fuel economy like with the charger installed?

I don't really cruise anywhere. I only do 6800 miles a year and most of that is to work and back. Car is averaging 25.31mpg to be precise!

Brakes arrived today. They're amazing. I can't wait to get them on, just waiting on the (colour coded) HEL hoses!

324mm discs, an extra pic with shoe (size 12 Hush Puppie) for reference.

These look lovely, have you checked the clearance yet? I know the fn2 required spacers or larger offset wheels when I had a bbk fitted.

I haven't yet, but I am running Rota grid's and I think the clearance is better than OEM wheels and I am also running 5mm spacers anyway.

Should be good to go then with a bit of luck, they will make a decent difference over the standard single piston calipers. wink

Mrobbins made me think about checking clearances so I asked a mate who has a standard ep3 to measure from his caliper to the inside of this wheel which gives us 25mm or clearance.

And the using my exact measuring device I think I have around 44mm of clearance so should be absolutely fine.

This kit supposedly clears standard wheels with a 10mm spacer so I should be pretty safe!

JUst looking back through some old pictures and found one of the engine bay when I bought the car so though I'd do a quick comparison.

Quite a difference I think!

This must be insanely quick! the teg feels quick to me after moving from a 170bhp 1.6.

It's giving me dangerous ideas hehe.

How is to to drive at normal speeds and around town and stuff?

It drives like OEM normally mate, it's only when you get 4K+ rpm and the charger comes on with VTEC.

Still limited to just 6k at the moment. Waiting to hear when I can have full power unleashed!

Wow, Cracking thread and story. I have read through this over a couple of days and its a really great read. Its really cool to see the efforts you've put in doing as much as possible yourself and looks like you still have plans to carry on so looking forward to following too.

Thanks mate, I like to get stuck in and do as much as possible myself. My mate Mark is a great spanner monkey though and does most of the hard work.

Anything we can't do I'm not averse to finding someone locally to do it.

Mapping session is booked for the 20th so the next few weeks should be fun!

Well I didn't go to the RWYB in the end, I'm still very cautios about giving the car too much abuse without the intercooler on.

The car is booked in from this friday to have the work started, custom piping and a twin pass (I think) intercooler.

The Hondata ECU has a handy bluetooth app that you can link to your phone and display guages and information and I managed to grab this today to show how the car is suffering at the moment with the high external temps!

88 Degress inlet is simply not cool (ha) so I'm looking forward to seeing how much difference the intercooler makes and if the car makes any more power!
Just quoting my own post as it's quite funny to think that I was running 88 degrees inlet then!

This morning I saw a much more healthy 12 degrees!

That's good to know, didn't want you fitting them to end up without a car if clearance was an issue, looks like you have plenty. 😉

it's threads and cars like yours that make me gutted I didn't fit the h22a7 turbocharged complete engine box ecu and front end I was offered when I put new engine in the accord I have.

Top work and it's good to hear after so much work yours drives well and 25mpg that's impressive

Thanks mate, yes you should have done that! I had a H22 in my Prelude and that's a corker of an engine.

Today my special order HEL hoses arrive, transparent red, they look amazing, not that they'll ever be seen, but I know they're there hehe

Car is in today having the Rocker gasket changed, it's been weeping for a while so hopefully gets that sorted!

Not a fan of the yellow under the bonnet, but a fantastic build and a thoroughly good read.

Keep up the good work and updates!

The yellow started off with just the rocker cover (like Spoon innit hehe ) and has just taken over. I don't show off under bonnet much, just for my personal entertainment!

Thanks for the kudos!
