Well, mission accomplished, I think. FFS, do you think I am taking this seriously? Oh dear.

Anyway, the wing is a temporary thing - just there to be a wind up. (See what I did there wind/wind.... never mind)
Its only because we all love the sheer genius of the whole thing, anything that detracts from the direction we think it should be going is going to get a reaction.

Its your car, so do what you want, but glad it is temporary.

Sorry to hear of your accident and loss.

Sorry to hear about that, but glad to see you're actively working on that bucket list!

It's a Bentley RACE CAR. That's pretty much the point to stop taking anything too seriously. It's not a classic resto of a rare car.

Enjoy it! 4mpg, rather you than me wink

Rear wings on Turbo Rs are hard to find.

Someone has done the old Plymouth Road Runner style.

.
this is the cummins diesel powered car that lives in Harrogate. its a work of art, a very neat instalation, it would have been better (in my opinion) had the exhaust not poked up through the bonnet, but the owner is an old school hot rodder and that's what he likes!

it sounds fantastic, has a real smooth rumbley whistle to it

Latest.

Trying to sort some wheels. These Bentley are 155mm pcd - unique to the car. So I am getting some hubcentric adaptors made hopefully. Best bet are Porsche Cayenne wheels as they have an ET of 60 and the Bentley is 41. So I have gained 19mm of offset, add in 20mm of adaptor , great. But It may well be that the spacers need to be double thickness at 40mm, so I will be +20mm. 20" wheels have 275/45.20 tyres which are nearly the same RR as the present 255/55.17 tyres. May go for 275/35.20 to lower the gearing a tad.

There is about 25mm of arch clearance, but potential of 40mm with arch rolling/removal. Which ever way I go, the handling and in particular, the turn in will improve. Plus Cayenne wheels are real cheap, so I will be able to have 2 or 3 sets of wheels..

Oh, the pcd of the Cayenne wheels is 5x130 - a better option than the VW 5x112.

I hope the new wheels are a bit lighter too.....

And I really don't want to know why this is a bad idea!!!

FYI: all Porsche wheels are 5x130 so gives you a lot of options.

Apologies for going off topic but a Cummins powered Bentley? Any more details? Found this; http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/162536/cumm...

Would love to know more.

Yes, indeed. But only the Cayenne has an ET of 60mm and has the same size front and rear.
Spent far too much time researching this today......

Some others get very close. Porsche 944s from 1986 onwards and 968s run 5x130 with offsets of 56mm+, very easy and cheap wheels to get hold of.

True. But I need 9 or 10 X 19 or 20" - not usually a 968 size! Plenty of Cayenne wheels available. There's a number of them on the 'bay from £150 - £700 a set with tyres...

Thanks for your input!

I used to enjoy reading about this. Shame it got its roof chopped and fizzled out to sitting in a barn.

Well, I'll be taking up the baton!

There will plenty of tales of dering-do over the months, that's for sure.

As the owner of a Turbo R that could do with some pepping up I shall be watching with interest.

Keep up the good work

Utterly brilliant. The wing is fantastic and , well, to be frank, I am slightly in awe of the whole thing.

I agree, the chop job was a shocker. Have you bought it?

Jeez NO! They started with the wrong car, anyway. Shadow 1 with steering box, crap brakes, crap gearbox....

No, I meant I was taking up the baton in spirit.

BTW New wheels are on the way......

I can confirm that Bentley Turbo R racing is fun.

4 wheel screeching with the foot to the floor it how it's done.

94km/h hair pins are fine in barges.

Don't cringe at the Australian flag, Bernard Rubin was Aussie and he won the 1928 24 Hours of Le Mans driving for Bentley, and fellow Australian David Brabham came second at Le Mans in 2003 driving for Bentley.

There was a second Turbo R on the track today as well.

Good luck with the build.
