You are right.
The roof metal is 1.5mm thick! Stunning quality these cars and so easy to work on too. Not that the factory ever expected some nutter to remove the steel roof and replace it with carbon fibre......

They really, really don't make the new-age models like that any more.

I wonder if the current Mulsanne is made this way still.

Hello Paul,

Might I suggest a discussion with Ed Abbott of Abbott Racing (see web site www.abbottracing.co.uk or www.abbottjaguar.co.uk and see Rally XJS pages) He has some experience of keeping an auto box working in competition conditions with his v12 XJS used for historic rallying. Give him 2 weeks, he is just about to start the HERO Monte Carlo Challenge Historic Rally!

Roof fitted and glued.

Weighed the wiring removed so far..... 8.5kg

Got a bit bored with the wiring, so decided to fit the trans cooler.
Top brackets

Bottom bracket

Coat of paint

Top brackets welded

And cooler fitted

That just needs pipework, fan and scoop, then it is done.
There isn't any space left for any more rads/coolers now. Water radiator, a/c condenser, PAS cooler, chargecooler water cooler rad, engine oil cooler and now two transmission coolers!

Been a busy week doing all this. Need to do some proper work now.

Fabulous! I have been wondering where you were: getting withdrawal symptoms. Er, just out of interest you understand, what are doing with all the bits removed? Clocks?

I am glad you folk like this. Makes it all the more worthwhile.

Few more bits.
Transmission cooler brackets.

Welded into place

Lower bracket - note the lightening holes!!

And trial fitted. At an angle as that is how the oem cooler for the chargecooler is fitted. So follow them as i don't know what I am doing!

More to come later. But I REALLY must get on with some proper work!

It has been sat a while.
Hope to be back on it soo.
Plans are for a trans controller to give paddle change, Emerald ECU for more power and control. Race dash. That lot means a whiole heap of wiring can be removed.

Sorting out some shox. Bilstein do them! Just need to get them valved correctly.

Hubs go off to HiSpec soon to make some Monster 8 pot calipers and large discs.

Probably going to start on it again in March.

Simon or Stuart from Phantom Motorcars. If that's not some ancient footage I've been missing out on BDC Silverstone in August, particularly if TGT team were there.
