In a few years time you'll look back at this 'scene' and laugh at yourself. Until then good work paying my taxes and giving the Police something to focus on.

I bet the FPN went down a storm at the carpark biggrin
I laugh at myself anyway, benefits of being fat.

It gained me 100 scene points.

In my opinion your car looks great, OP. It's not just the air ride, there are other small details that make it look so good.
Thank you!

Cheers.

Yes I have a k04 set up to go on.. should take me to about 320bhp.

Then will focus on fully polybushing it , also got some uprated brakes to go on.

Been very busy lately.

Got these through....

New spigot rings as well.

Polished up the dishes once again, applied some Cquartz protection and topped with Reload. Picking up these tonight....

Not quite finished in the above picture, needed a few more coats and flatting and polishing. I will be polishing them up if necessary and applying Cquartz to them prior to having them built up.
Tomorrow morning will get the tyres on and have them mounted.

Are the bolts 12.9's? Or just nice and shiny hehe

Seriously need to be the former.

Agree on the sentiment, though 10.9 will be fine also.

Probably too high grade, as 12.9 has virtually no stretch, and the shiny zinc coating will make them even more brittle.
Hate to say it, but expect these to start sheering as soon as those wheels go on and you drive around on them.

One good pothole and could be split wheel city.

Don't over torque them then hehe

8-10Nm max if going into aluminium.

Not really. Just some simple logic.

Due to years of bodge jobs (most notably the bloke with the Land Rover), things like IVA have been introduced to attempt to ensure that some rigour is imposed on the safety of modifications to a cars monocoque.

From the Edition38 website (First Google Hit).

Your car WILL need an IVA if you:
•C notch the chassis legs for driveshaft clearance
•Raise the strut tops
•Modify the floor or bulkhead
•Chop the roof off/convert to a pickup
•Cut the outer arch lip for tyre clearance/to fit a wide arch kit, as this is classed as a structural area
•Modify any part of the monocoque

You can debate all day on the sanity of the rules, but they are the rules.

Now I am all for well executed (primarily functional) mods like engine swaps and the like, but cutting bits from the vehicle structure just so it will look broken when parked is just idiotic. More importantly, unless backed up by a valid IVA, illegal and would cause grief if spotted by an insurance assessor in the event of something unfortunate happening.

If the new scene was to stick their fingers in the fire would you? (Thanks Mum smile)

ETA.
Look at the other MkV thread on here, Focussed on making the car better and looks great as a result.

I'm just about to have the wheel arches on my S2000 extended to properly extend the car the correct way when fitting wheels that are wider than the existing ones. I'm having everything extended so as to be finished as OEM - including retaining the original arch lip and extending the arch splash guards.

I had no idea an IVA was required as a result - greatly GREATLY appreciate you posting this. I shall make sure I organise an IVA as soon as the work is complete.

Re this golf - sad to see the situation regarding the chassis leg, just get it approved with an IVA immediately. Love the purple AMG wheels, just sad they will need to use hub adaptors. Bye-bye steering feel.

You'll find nearly all split rim bolts are 12.9... my old ones were 12.9 too and they were all fine.

Cheers..

They don't need hub adaptors though..not that fitting PCD adaptors would effect steering feel anyway

And yes, were painted at Lemass smile
Get on with Tom well there, he's a very good guy and quality is top notch. Did take a long time but he did them for me at a very good price so can live with that.

A 12.9 has lots of stretch, that's kinda the point.

But then again, I'm not so sure I would expose a 12.9 which is susceptible to hydrogen embrittling to the chrome plating process.

Excellent to hear that adaptors aren't necessary.

This thread makes me feel disappointed. I usually feel this way with cars that are modded for the dub scene.

I feel as though the modifications are misguided and the disappointed comes from all the money, time, effort and skill that has been put into a stanced car.

I have a friend, the OP may know him, he won best wheels at Goodwood Classic, he builds amazing cars. The effort involved is unreal and he is extremely skilful. I could sit and watch him fabricate all day, its truly amazing. I feel as though if he put the effort into building something functional instead of for aesthetics his time would be much better spent.

My latest challenge for him is to build a car on air-ride that utilizes ground effect when aired out hehe and rides comfortably and normal at its usual ride height. At least then it would have a functional reasoning behind the air-ride.
