Did you clean the intake ports and valves yourself or did you take it somewhere? Pretty sure I need to get mine done so looking for a recommendation.

Got it done at AKS. It's definitely DIY-able, but it's a pain and a longish process to actually clean the ports/valves by hand.

New tyres. Tried something a bit different. Managed to get 4 of these @ 90 quid each, which was a no brainer.

Yeah ad08R. Seem good so far, except the fronts have cause some vibrations at 10 leptons. Think they need rebalancing.

Common opinion seems to be that they grip immensely well but die very quickly.

Sound perfect, I'm not after longevity as the car does very few miles.

Nothing new to report. Im changing the cam chain next week, so thats a fairly big job.

Few pics from PHSS

The AD08R tyres are incredible in the dry. They have fantastic feel too, they really help make the steering more direct.

Nice! This is basically the eventual plan for my Astra. I'm following this topic - I really like your Golf.

This looks so good, a mk5 golf with xenons looks fresh even now. A bit of a timeless shape I think

Cheers Nick... I am obviously biased, but I agree. I think these mk5s will still look good in 10-20 years time.

A bit of progress.

Pads were f*cked.... not good. Brembo HP Sport

Not much room to get the wrench in (yes I know you shouldnt use a torque wrench to undo bolts)

All bled fully and tested. Nice firm pedal :-)

VW Caddy MK3 rear brake calipers in the process.....

The OEM GTI ones are 37mm piston, the caddy are 40mm so offer an increase in clamping force, but enables me to keep the OEM discs and pads.

They are direct fit, with the exception of swapping over the handbrake and brakehose bracket over.
