In continuation of my quest to build a 16M replica I have purcahsed a 16M iPod.
The 16M has an iPod Touch integrated into the dash. The iPod sits inside a plastic cartridge, which is housed within a 16M/iPod specific carbon dashboard moulding.
The Touch is a bit dated now so I will only convert my car if I can modify the cartridge and iPod interface to integrate a more up-to-date device.
mwstewart can I ask how much you paid for the 16M iPod?The 16M has an iPod Touch integrated into the dash. The iPod sits inside a plastic cartridge, which is housed within a 16M/iPod specific carbon dashboard moulding.

Some pics from the Silverstone Classic. Such a good weekend! The event was incredibly well run and all the staff were polite. We met some really nice people/owners and saw an incredible array of cars. The historic F1 was amazing to watch.
With regards plate blanking I will always do this out of courtesy if the owner is known, but as it is these cars are pretty much anonymous hence I haven't done it. If you are an owner and want your plate blanking please let me know.
Etc.

Is there really any need to quote the entire post with every picture
You mean you didn't want to see all 300 photos again?I'm still staggered by the level of detail and brilliant execution of work carried out on this car. Simply, this Ferrari is next-level stuff. Looking forward to the engine build!
Headlights
Parts3000 came through with the headlamp trim. I'm really impressed with the result.
I tracked down some LED BAY9S bulbs for the front indicators, so I can now finish off the headlamp build (clear lenses and carbon bezels).
Exhaust
The silencer I designed and fabricated was always intended to be accompanied by aftermarket manifolds so with the stock manifolds with their incorporated pre-cats it was never going to be loud enough. As luck would have it a full Capristo system came up for sale on eBay. It was in Dorset where I happened to be for a week away so I went over to collect it on our way back. Nice to meet you Gary.
I didn't need the rear silencer or mounting brackets so I quickly sold those off leaving me with a set of manifolds, cats, and insulation blankets. The cats are HJS so should last well and Capristo state a 40bhp increase for the F430 which is backed up by an average of three dyno runs compared to stock. The manifolds aren't in the same league as Supersprint but all-in that would have cost an additional £3.5k, which is hard to justify for what is ultimately diminishing returns.
Capristo designed the heat blankets to be more effective than the OE system but they come in a very unserviceable shade of white, so I sprayed them with VHT black which when sprayed over white dries dark grey - a good match for the ceramic coating on my rear silencer.
Component weights. The blankets are pretty heavy which surprises me given Capristo claim a 22kg weight saving for the system. I will validate once I have my OE parts to weigh.
Misc
Clear side repeaters and LED bulbs.
Replacement engine lid trim piece in carbon.
After issues with my F1 system I bought some spares: new F1 pump and five spare relays.
Some of the back order parts are beginning to arrive: RH coil/plug water shield.
Phase 2
I've bought the requisite thin wall cable in the correct OEM colours and gauges to convert my car looms to Scuderia spec, and OEM loom tape (Coroplast).
I also bought a CAN bus yaw sensor from a 458 (same as Scuderia).

Yes, I prefer the relay approach because it addresses the requirement at source.
I have the exact same LED's on the Porsche, and a relay didn't fix it, but load resistors did. Could have just been a faulty relay as I too would have preferred fixing it at the source.Stunning detail as always.
Thanks all.
FYI the 355 issue was due to thin gauge low quality steel which after many heat cycles begins to baloon and eventually rupture.

Awesome work, as ever. Do the f430's suffer issues with the primary pipes melting? Or is that limited to 355's?
The 430's have a rigid mounting system which results in cracked manifolds, which I solved my flexible mounting system. Another other issue is degredation of the pre-cats which due their position can result in fragments being sucked back into the cylinders.FYI the 355 issue was due to thin gauge low quality steel which after many heat cycles begins to baloon and eventually rupture.
