Headlight bulbs blew which meant the blast across the mountain to the BnB was a bit hairy in places.

Was planning to go and watch some rallying locally last Sunday, but the journey up was cut short thanks to a front offside puncture. A new spare wheel was one of those jobs I'd pushed to the back of my mind, so I was duly punished with a 90 minute wait for the RAC. Mr RAC did his best to locate a new 235/40r17 but they're not exactly plentiful in Cornwall on a Sunday afternoon. I'd already rung around myself but he was determined to prove me wrong. Anyway, with a 3 hour wait for a low loader I persuaded him to use his multi-fit spare and follow me the 2 miles home. I then ordered a pair of Toyo R1R at £90 each inc delivery. I'm told they are the same compound as r888's but with better wet weather grip. I've only done about 20 miles on them so far, so all I can tell you for certain, is they're black and round.

A few days earlier I went up to Rally Prep where they kindly hooked me up with another Bonrath wiper conversion. They really helped me out and I'm extremely grateful as I would have had to re fit all the OE linkage etc, only to remove it again when the new kit arrived from the states. Yes, I could have just stuck with 2 wipers, but where's the fun in that?

You know you're in the right place when you look around and see some of the other metal laying around.

Monkey Harris' weekend office.

I'm also thinking of uprating the front brakes to Tarox 6 pots combined with a bias pedal box?

Next job though, is to check the geometry and wheel alignment after Wales. wink

Another client of RP drives this green number, with what equates to about 500bhp per ton thanks to its 900kg kerb weight! Slow it most certainly isn't but it's owner is 74! Brilliant! 8)

Decided to replace the BBS on the M3 with Compomotive TH. They may not be the lightest wheels available, but they're very strong. I think they'll look awesome and a bit different to the usual choices.

E21Mark / Mark.c

I think you're both down at the bottom of the country... wink

A friend has just bought a 633csi project in Devon. Dude called Clayton, has a load of old beemers apparently. Only problem is it doesn't have any wheels! Standard 120/5 hubs.

Any ideas down there for cheapos or loaners so he can get it back up to Leeds?

Failing that there's a guy in Redruth who often breaks old BMW.

That may be the guy that Mark.C has put me in touch with.

This 633 is from Clayton Harrison who seems to be a pretty well known breaker. Was in East Anglia, now in Devon.

I think Mark mentioned Joe, but there's also a John. Let us know if nothing turns up anyway.

Well I took the plunge and paid up for the new wheels today. Ideally I would have liked staggered 8's and 9's but could only get 8's. I'll probably run spacers on the rear instead?

No doubting they really suit the M3's styling.

Initially I thought a bright silver would work best.

In the end it just had to be anthracite.

Just have to twiddle my thumbs whilst I await delivery c/o Rally Prep. Shame as I'd hoped to have them on for the weekends event at Castle Hill Car Festival. http://www.castlehillcarfestival.co.uk/

Anyone going?

Yep they will look great I reckon....I imagine the car will feel nicer on a square set up......I ran staggered breytons on my previous car and it never felt quite right....

I like the look of this car....I don't know if they are genuine O.Z or stickered Compo's but I think the style suits the car....they look big mind you, I'm not sure my car has enough ooomph to turn them!

I'm such a tart. I really like the OZ Racing decals on the rim. In fact, I happen to have a full set of late 80's Compomotive decals in red. Coincidence obviously. whistle
