Bought it approx 5/6 years ago for my wife.

It became my P & J in February as wife upgraded to a Toyota.

It's a Vtec as well.

Optional Genuine Honda Cd player

Traditional parking sensor

Some loser stole the Honda badge from the grill

More Pics

Full size spare wheel (a rareity nowadays)

I use it for three things only.

1. Going to work
2. Coming back from work
3. Carrying anything remotely dirty/biggish

It's pretty economical. It has brilliant handling. A bit like a Type R but more refined and when the Vtec kick in this thing takes of like a rabbit being chased by a fox. I nearly overtook some kid in a bodykitted Corsa last week. Shame he noticed and put his foot down too frown

I can park it anywhere!

If i park too close to another car i can walk across to the passenger side and get out that way.

It did have a genuine boot mat but milk was spilt on it so therefore i no longer have a boot mat. I do have a piece of plywood mind.

I nearly took it to a track day once but decided not to at the last minute.

I'm seriously thinking of turning it into a van or just tackying the crap out of it with accessories.

The car is amazing. Much better than other cars of the same vintage. It nearly full poverty spec but it has electric front window and mirrors!

If it did not have electric windows and mirrors then it would be worth more. Like certain Subaru's and Evo's less is worth more.

In all truthfulness I did try selling the car for £500 but I had some right comedians turn up. In the end I decided to keep it. Did you know it has fsh! I still keep any service receipts for it.

In December it had a coolant flush and oil change.

My plan was to replace it with an Alfa GTV (with red leather interior) when it dies but I've just bought two new tyres for it so I can't.

Ah... You want to hear my tyre story don't you?

Well... A couple of years ago I bought a brand new set of tyres. On the mot which was in Feb I realised that the front two tyres were only just legal. The gearbox was making a wierd noise too. So mechanic said gearbox is going to die at any moment so I'm better of scrapping the car. My idea was to use it up until August when the tax runs out. However the tyres were wearing more and more and I was getting nervous driving in case plod fancied a word. So I went to a used tyre place and found a couple of tyres at £18 each. Bargain! Erm... Not really... They were only 1mm above the legal limit!

So they sold me a new set of dingdongs for £43 each... Now all of a sudden the car accelerates, brakes and corners with the confidence and poise of a rally bred fire spitting turbo charged son of an Evo mother Subaru thing!

Fantastic cars, these.

I assume it's a 1.6 (you mentioned it having VTEC), which would make it the same engine as mine (3 door facelift SE).

While it'll never set the world alight, the engine has enough poke day to day and is capable of 50mpg on a run. Cheap to keep running (unless that gearbox does eventually go wink) and certainly better than most things in that price bracket.

Keep the old girl, especially now you've shod her with 2 new tingtongs!

Yes it is a 1600cc.

Funnily enough you mention the gearbox it does seem a little noisy and sometimes semi-jams in first. Been like that for well over a year now.

I've promised not to get rid until it has something terminal like engine or gearbox failure (or a big mot fail)

No, the car is fine, really good motors. I have a civic myself.

It's your final sentence that got me.

Great write up.

This caught my eye:

Is there a colour mismatch between the doors and the rear pillar or is it just a trick of the light?

I ask because I've seen a lot of Civics of this vintage which appear to have such a mismatch. Is this a known problem or am I imagining it all?

Blatant colour mismatch.

I have replaced every single door one that car. A couple were advertised at the breakers as being the same colour but turned out to be sprayed the 'same' colour.

Here are the pics

And here's the one when i changed the rear light after some idiot installed a lampost where there was obviously no need for one.

Ah, the poise bit.

So there's three Civic owners on this thread.

Maybe we can have a meet sometime, or a trackday, a show and shine smile

I thoroughly enjoyed reading that OP, have a virtual pint on me. I've got a Type R version which I have been trying to change for about 18 moths but I'm really struggling to part with it. Mine has just ticked over 50,000 miles and there is never anything wrong with it to warrant me buying a new car. It gets me to work quickly and I'm not to precious with it so it has a couple of ng dings and kerbed alloys but that just makes it better.

They really are great cars and it's good to see that you've put so much time and effort into yours. I have an ep3 type-r and I'm slowly getting it to as near perfect condition. I only use it as a work car but I'm keen to give it ago on a track in the near future.

Changed stereo and gearknob.

The stereo has USB connectivity and the gearknob is round and makes it feel like it's. Lot sportier than it is.
