Thanks for the positive posts.
Yes, the incongruent cable ties and plastic wheel trims, well spotted. The car's build sheet states:
238 240 280 341 362 412 430 440 461 471 507 524 543 574 584 592 600 615 640
I've only looked up the last number so far (I read newspapers from the back page!) and 640 comes up as "640 15-hole light alloy rims".
Goes off to check rear parcel shelf for rust...
Easiest to do from the boot....Yes, the incongruent cable ties and plastic wheel trims, well spotted. The car's build sheet states:

Note to self 1: if locked in boot by murderous wife or local Mafia, use this:
Note to self 2: ascertain if slab of 1980s telecommunications is worth owt.
I didn't know about the boot lock...would have been handy whennnnnnn....
Might get a comms museum interested in your slab !!
ETA: Just noticed the hole in the centre console. I think your missing the wing mirror adjuster thingy. Iirc they are fairly standard across the MB ranges of the era, so you should be able to pick one up for a couple of pints.

Well done, a car from back when things were built properly. My Dad had a few of these back in the Eighties (from when they were only a couple of years old). Your's looks to be nicer than any of them. An absolute bargain. Are you going to source some original alloys or stick with proper shedding and spend as little as possible?
