seriously good work. You have created a hell of a track weapon there from an unlikely starting point.

I've been following this for about 2 years, and what an epic thread and epic car!

I started reading this when I first looked at getting a 156 V6 that I knew had been looked after but was very high mileage... 2 years later it's gone a fair way with a 3.0 with fully rebuilt, skimmed and lightly ported, with 3.2 inlet cams (for ease of timing and some small increase in power and torque spread up top...) CF2 manifolds heat wrapped, wizard downpipes and a few other bits here and there... I use this car daily, cover about 60 miles or 100km a day in it and it's brilliant! Would be tempted to see what it's capable of if taken to extremes like yours but even as it is it's a very capable car so I can only imagine.

Anyway, keep up the wicked work Alan and I'll look forward to your future mods!

First of all, awesome mind boggling project!hats off to you.

Noticed you didn't use the home made intake plenum, any particular reason? Always thought the one you made looks like a better design, increasing velocity.

Sounds fab Alan cool

I’ve driven a normal 2.5V6 a few years back ( swapped with my friend - he drove my 328i ) - it was a great evening and we both enjoyed the other car.
The engine sounds fantastic as standard so can imagine what yours is like in reality

long time no posting, i was on a small track just testing new alignment and there was a bump on the track where car jumped, after 15 laps of jumping on slicks gearbox had enough smile
so i bought gearbox from 166 2.0 twin spark whit even shorter ratios, and put on bellhousing from my V6 box, limited slip diff got some overhaul and i activated all plates smile

gearbox works smile :

yeah i like that picture too, looks purposefull smile

and now the thing that was on a waiting list for too long, front part of exhaust was still stock'ish, just decatted manifolds.
This is my first tig welding project so it is nost the most beautifull but it holds, still needs a silencer (check the video)
Had to make new lower engine mount to clear the pipes, all is calculated for my engine and peak power, equal lenght primaries and secondaries.

the sound oh the sound smile i can only imagine how will it be with 500rpm higher rev limit smile
will dyno it too to see the gains

Holy moly Alan, very nice work on the exhaust!

I've seen a couple of RWD converted 156's on YouTube, is that something youve ever considered on your car? It certainly looks like you have the skills to do that!

I'm not knocking FWD as I have a 156 V6 myself and I love it. Mods to mine are only equal length downpipes and a wizard catback exhaust though (so about 0.01% of what you've done...)

well exhaust work is not over yet, ofcourse muffler and some heat wrap still needs doing and then road test biggrin

Yes i saw some rwd 156, well i must say i grew up with fwd and handbrake hooning, and i changed so many things on this car that i think i made a very capable fwd platform.
I would like to have rwd (daily car plan in the future is giulia 2.0t) but for racing i would like to make my own car, with midmount engine - alfa 6C ? biggrin maybe someday...
