Just an update really. Around 10,000 miles into the ownership, and I still totally adore this car. A few bits an pieces still need doing, but the aircon works now, and it's pretty happy about life. I have been 'advised'by the local dealers to replace the steering rack and all associated tubing for the piffling amount of £1100..... Erk! I doubt I'm going to do that, so I'm currently looking around for other ways to fix the issue.

Apart from that, it still gives 30mpg, still is a hoot, and is utterly brilliant. If jobs change then she would have to go - but I'm really not looking forward to that at all!

30mpg! That's pretty good. Trying to persuade my mate into a 3.0 TDi but a V10 may be good enough MPG wise compared to a C63!

What should I be looking at on 08-10 cars with 60-80k miles on?

Price wise? £10k I'd say? I did get mine cheap.

Sorry, me being a little daft. Check that the right oil has been used. Check for the normal services etc. Check all the electrics work (there are a lot of them). Apart from that, it's just a normal car with a sodding big engine.

My mate looked at the car yesterday, a fair amount of interior ash trays were broken and little trim bits were missing.

Price was £5650 with new budget Accelera tyres all round but he wasn't very keen on the car for some reason, I couldn't make it to have a look round unfortunately.

OK, it was a smokers pack car (mine is the same), but if it's poor on the inside.... Oh well. smile

And it looks like this will now be going up on the PH block. A wonderful, wonderful car now surplus to requirements. At least I got to live the V10 dream...

Sounds like a very appealing purchase! I have a soft spot for the Phaeton, it must hark back to the ridiculously over-engineered German cars of the 90s.
This is how I feel about them, I love the Phaeton and like seeing them on the road, always try to see if it's a W12 if I am close enough.

Nice purchase OP!

Needs the exhaust rear box cutting off and replacing with straight pipes.
No it doesn't. It needs to stay the way it is. Understated.

Love it. Very brave buying that with the clonking and service light. Congrats!

Sorry for the delay, it's an 04 plate, so pre-facelift.
