I purchased a ford oem ez storage set of ebay, new at a fraction of the msrp.

There are two discs that pop out of the sun visors which allow you to insert a card and cd holder.

This is particularly useful to me as I can put my garage opener in the mesh pocket. I still occasionally use cds but also have a portable mini disc plugged into the aux.

The s197s do not have much storage inside.

There is also a tissue holder that you can swap out.

How do you mean under wheeled mate?

He means, the wheels look small, could do with a larger diameter.

The problem with the s197's is that they sit too high on stock springs, even on the track pack its too high.

At some point this year ill swap out for lower springs and an adjustable panhard bar. I can go to 20s but no more than that.

After a lot of messing around getting the factory wing off with a plastic scraper and a hair dryer, the Shelby GT500 wing is now fitted.

I then found a pair of pre painted saleen mustang louvers on ebay at a cheap price. I'm not sure if I like them as it looks like I'm trying to hard for the retro look. I can easy make my money back on them but i'm probably going to take them off. It does cause a blind spot but makes the interior more cosy. What do you reckon, keep them or take them off?

I think it suits the look of the car. I'm sure others may disagree.

Looks great.

Been a while. I have since removed the rear window louvers.

Upgraded parts since the last post:

Gt premium leather parking brake
Pioneer 4 channel amp
Kicker hideaway sub [blew]
Led glow ambient footwell lights
Lloyds mustang tri pony mats
Ford illuminated door sills

The next parts to be fitted:
Shelby Supersnake rims, 20x9 and 20x10, powder coated alien silver
Whiteline transmission mount
Raxiom yellow foglights
Rockford Fostgate amplified sub

Problems with car:
Recaro seat, material bunching, taking to fix at upholstery shop
Hood shakes at 140mph, due to lower air deflector damaged on driveway, $150 piece of plastic, repaired for now but trying to find a cheap one on ebay
Rear end seal leaking oil, should be covered by ford extended warranty
Experienced high rpm lockout, a known issue with the crap mt82 transmission, too much movement hence whiteline transmission mount to fix the problem.

Now the weather is getting warmer Ill be riding my scooter or motorcycle more. I will probably buy an eagle talon tsi awd or a mazdaspeed 6 for the winter as I cannot afford to be stranded in the snow.

Sorry for duplicate pics, trying to do this on a tablet, hate touchscreen.

When you put your foot down it is stupid loud and incredible through the mountains. Reminded me of the opening scene to the italian job.

What engine Croyde? Initially I didn't like the s550 but the more I see it is definitely growing on me. There's a few black track packs round here. The brakes are huge.

I forgot to mention don't buy a roush exhaust system, mine is already rusting and its supposed to be stainless.

Trying to get it replaced under warranty

Here are some pics from a time attack event at pikes peak international raceway.

Btw Croyde, if you want photos of anything specific on the s550 mustang let me know. I'll be going to my local ford dealer this week for the warranty work. I want to test drive a taurus sho pretty bad.

I must say if I still lived in the UK i'd be owning a tastefully modified evolution vi. You don't realize how lucky you are till it's gone.

Cheers mate. I've already pawed over a US GT with PP so I know the car intimately biggrin

Unless the UK one is majorly different in the end frown

Oh and it had to be the 5.0.

According to my dealer it is the V8 that us Brits are going for.

I had the gt up to 32mpg at 7000ft, 65mph for 30 miles on cruise on 91ron,flat ground and 3:73 gearing.. That's around 39 uk mpg converted. Typically get 25mpg mixed.

You will not be disappointed with your gt.

Following the time attack I identified the areas of the mustang that need improving, the mt82 transmission is not great by any means, the t56 tremec on the cobras of previous years is superior. A common problem that I experienced is high rpm lockout, so shifting aggressively up or down above 6000rpm can sometimes be blocked. I read its due to too much movement with the transmission.

As a result I purchased the whiteline transmission mount bushing. I've not had the chance to test it but shift do feel better and there is some noise, vibration, harshness increase, but not to the point of being a problem. I definitely feel more connected with what the mustang is doing and it feels more like a muscle car, it's hard to explain. A cheap $30 mod.

I got a great deal on some shelby supersnake rims and tires. 20x9, 255/35,20 and 20x10, 285/30/20.

The rims are 35lbs in the front and 36lbs in the rear so they are not track wheels by any measure.

The original alcoa supersnake rims were forged and sold only to supersnake owners, the wheels had serial numbers. These rims are available used on ebay for around $6000. These are American Racing reproduction wheels that are cast not forged.

I hate black wheels, they are currently being power coated alien silver with a clear coat.

Another recent addition was oem ford illuminated stainless door sills, the led's were not that bright so I changed them out with a brighter set of blue led's. This is not the premium gt so it does not come with the ford mycolor which means I cannot change the color of the sills.

I also added a set of ledglow blue led bars in the footwells, so when the doors are opened the footwells are illuminate blue. A much cheaper alternative to the oem ford ambient kit.

A better high res pic of the interior.

I also got a set of yellow fog lights. They were a ball ache to fit as you have to remove the front bumper.

Picked up my Shelby Supersnake rims from being powdercoated in Alien silver, with a clear coat. I am really pleased with the results. At some point i'll get to addressing the wheel gap with a full fast road suspension.

My first oil change on the stang is approaching. The track pack uses 5w50 full synthetic, same as the boss 302 and 9 quarts instead of 8 on the normal GT. Part of the track package is the boss oil cooler which is where the extra quart comes from.

Just ordered the ford racing high flow oil filter for $18 from cjponyparts. The high flow filter is twice the price of the regular motorcraft filter.

FORD RACING HIGH PERFORMANCE OIL FILTERS
Synthetic-Polymer/Cellulose-Fiber blend media.
Heavy gage base and canister for higher burst strength and impulse fatigue resistance
High quality silicone anti-drain back valve
Non-stick sealing gasket for ease of installation and removal
Long life with standard and synthetic motor oils
Up to 50% more filtering capacity then standard filters
Improved filtering efficiency
This technology is only available through Ford Racing Performance Parts.
Can be used in many FL500 applications

MOTORCRAFT PART NUMBER PERFORMANCE FILTER PART NUMBER
FL1A CM-6731-FL1A
FL820S CM-6731-FL820

Lately with the prospect of buying a house back in Alabama I have been feeling very nostalgic with all things 80s American. This weekend I watched Black Air, the buick grand national documentary. I want a G body bad. I remember being 10 growing up in Lancashire, I remember looking at imported U.S. hot rod magazines and seeing custom 80s Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS's.

A muscle car from the golden age of nascar, moonshine running Bruce Springsteen. You can't get more American than a monte carlo. Bench seat, column shifter, porno red interior, angular design. This and the ford t bird were the last real cars used in nascar before they switched to space frame, fiberglass b.s. It would be a great project car. Ditch the anemic 305 for a gm performance big block.
