The new wheels looked nicer in black imo, they matched the window trim etc.

Not tempted to trade in for a new Mustang yet?

I like that black rims hide brake dust, but it hides the style of the rim, especially when moving. I was close to getting them powdercoated gold or polar white.

Yeah I'm not going to trade it in for the new s550 mustang. I don't like the exterior design. I'm starting to see a lot of them now and they look ok I guess, but I prefer the retro styling of the facelifted s197.

I drove the new ecoboost, it's nice inside, but feels smaller than mine, it was like a refined sports car as opposed to a raw muscle car. I'm going to try and test drive a gt on friday, alongside a used chevrolet trailblazer ss awd.

I'd like something as a project car and get my hands dirty. If I can find a cheap but in good condition 1st gen Eagle Talon Tsi awd/Mitsubishi Eclipse or an 80s monte carlo ss that would be bad ass.

There's not many new cars at the moment that I like. I'm looking forward to the new civic type r and the focus rs.

I know someone who just bought a taurus sho, I'm going to see if I can drive that.

Some highlights from my week:

Procharged Camaro SS putting down approx 650 whp. I do not like the face lifted camaro of 2014-2015, the 2010-2013 looks way cooler.

I went to the movies today to see Mad Max Fury Road in 3d, on the way back I came across this Alfa Romeo 4C. I've never seen one before. Alfa's are pretty much non existent here. You get some older Alfa Romeo spider's, the last Alfas sold here was the 75 and the 164 which i've never seen.

My oil arrived for the engine oil change. Never had a car that took this much oil.

Hail to the V8!

Today I got a ride home in a 2013 V6 convertible auto. To be honest it felt like a load of wk, there was lag between gear changes and it felt more like a 200bhp car than 300bhp. However I saw around 38 mpg on the highway at 65mph. Why get a v6 mustang is beyond me.

Thanks, I may swap out the gauge cluster for the gt premium with the track apps screen in the future.

I got these gt500 interior door handles for $30. The base gt are plain black, gt premium are chrome (Dont like chrome) and the gt500 has a nice satin silver.

Evening all. An update with my mustang. At the moment I am replacing any damaged oem parts, some plastic parts and the door seal.

Tonight i'm swapping out the lower steering shroud as the previous owner scuffed it up with the key.

However the package got damaged in the mail and scratched on the hidden part of the shroud and the rubber ignition ring is mangled, I can fit the old ring but the scratch and knowing it's there pisses me off.

So I spent 4th July driving around the mountains enjoy the warmth.

I will be updating this thread shortly. I bought a log cabin in the mountains so thats my new hobby that most of my time goes on. I am getting more serious about trying to find an 80s monte carlo ss, not sure whether to go small or big block. I can do 454 big block at 700bhp for 1800quid but i'd need a massive gas tank. I'd like it to handle too so I'm thinking of a 383.

So the latest modification will be the lower air deflector aka engine undertray.

At my old house the driveway and a steep curb that woulf catch the 2" flap on the air deflector causes the rear of it to pull against the bolts holding it in place.

At around 150mph there was a banging noise coming from the front end, eventually figured out the plastic was torn. As time has passed it has got worse to the point that the turbulence captured in this location is causing the hood/bonnet to shake at 70mph or above.

A replacement piece is $200, I don't want to spent that much on a thin piece of plastic so I am having a fabricator to build one out of aluminum. For a small amount more than the stock piece. It won't look exactly the same as it would require a 50 ton die to press it, but it should fit like stock.

One of the great aspects about the mustang community is that someone knows someone for whatever job you need without trying to rip you off.

Might have mentioned it earlier a few months back there was a problem with shifting gears. aggressively at high rpm and even at normal speeds. Some times it would not engage the gear or go into the wrong gear.

I replaces the transmission fluid with royal purple syncromesh and replaced the shifter bushing.

The stock shifter bushing is held to its bracket via zip ties, this is done at ford. The bushing was supper soft. Not acceptable, I replaced it with a stiffer polyu bushing from energy suspension for $20.

Shifting is now like night and day, it really transformed the car. I expect on the s550 mustang this bushing has been upgraded.

Roush in the parking lot.

Home in the foothills.

Early morning run.

The North Carolina side of Tail Of The Dragon.

I saw this scion frs at deals gap and noticed "cosworth" like obi wan kenobi, thats a name i've not heard in a long time, a long time. Anyone know what the cosworth parts are doing under an frs, brz?

My log cabin is deep in the appalachian mountains. Its not that far from Tennessee side of tail of the dragon. The dragons real name is road us 127. It is considered the best driving road in America. It is pretty intense for sure.

There is a lot to do there shooting, hunting, fishing, hiking. I must admit I was depressed coming back to mainstream society. I will say Southern people are the nicest, kindest and welcoming people i've met.

Looks great dude, I always wanted to go to the Smokey's or Appalachians but ran out of time and only made it as far as Nashville on my last roadtrip.

Funny you mention shifter issues, the shift on my S197 was horrific, espescially when pushing it a bit and shifting from 2nd to 3rd. So I got rid of the stty old Ford shifter...

...and went for an MGW flat stick short shifter. The difference in build quality is unreal, and the difference in feel is huge. The shift feels a lot more precise and solid. If you haven't considered a short shifter yet then try and find someone nearby with one installed because it does make a big difference for not too much cash and it will definitely resolve some of your issues. Plus they look pretty damn good too.
