Managed to delete my original post, doh!

Picked it up in sept in non running condition, replaced all 4 coil packs as they were past their best and causing an issue

My first rwd car so im taking it steady for the moment, although the ride seems to be very good. Down b road and on motorways its quiet and dont hear much roar from the tyres.
Its good to be able to have electric seats, not used to it in my fiesta with them being manual. Theyre heated as well

So far ive managed to cover a few miles and averaging around 22/23mpg, combined driving around town and such.

I wouldnt mind in the future doing a few mods, plan to take it off the road at winter get it serviced and generally giving it good going over!

A hell of a lot of car for the money, if you can keep up with the running costs!

Not many sportscars can comfortably seat 4 6 foot men and have a boot big enough for everyones luggage!

Oh and the noise!

Good choice OP - I love mine to bits!

Have you had the compression tested?

Before trying to get the back end out, can I suggest you get some tuition on a track or airfield first as the Chris Harris 'How to drift' video said.

You don't want to do this:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Three have been crashed near me in the last few years, and one of the drivers wasn't in the first flush of youth. You don't want to bend it, and you don't want to bend yourself or anyone else. Nice car, please keep it that way.

I don't know what percentage of RX-8s that have been scrapped is due to driver error and big crashes rather than the engines expiring? Given the local crashes and the one in that PH thread, it seems to be a bit like riding a motorcycle, in guessing which item of roadside furniture you're going to hit when you come to rest.

From when I had mine I would say that if the car struggles to start from cold then it could either be the coils or the starter motor. If it struggles only from hot then that's when the engine problems are more likely.

Mine struggled from cold, and I changed the coil packs to find that it not only solved the problem but the car was much more responsive at lower revs.

I miss mine so much frown

Compression test done 4k ago, all good!

Haven't tried to push it yet, tbh it's not even been in 3 figs on a private road, yet!

Thanks for that, your R3 looks awesome out on track!

The noise is something to adjust to, when its not under proper load its a bit of a weird note from the engine but amazing once you get past 4k it starts to roar then sounds completely different after 6k!

Already itching for modifications.....its a sliperly slope when you modify one car the standard one just won't do hehe

Hopefully running costs won't be "too bad" its coming off the road at the end of the year for a big service and a bit of TLC then tax from march to oct ( yeah 12months tax is brutal ) the wheels could do with being refurbed as brake dust has got underneath the paint, wouldn't mind just going for a light antheracite. Bodywork is pretty good just a couple of dings here and there!

They aren't remotely a handful with the stability control left on. It will allow some oversteer before it intervenes, but seems fairly good at distinguishing having fun from running out of talent.

Saw this pop up on my feed on Instagram the other day, another nice car mate! You still got the ST? Keep thinking about chopping mine in for something else to be honest.

Had a pretty decent detail the other day, really needed to get copious amounts of soot and corrosion off the exhaust and bring some life back into the paint and the rear valance.
