guitarcarfanatic - UK legislation doesn't allow for wheels to poke out from the fenders but these cars sit quite high as standard; the wheels are in fact only about 2-3mm out all round so I'm not particularly concerned for anything other that potentially curbing a rim! As MrBarry123 said, Allroads are already beefy and I think these alloys compliment the body style 10 fold.

Thanks for the feedback folks - hopefully many more updates in due course!

Cool smile They certainly look beefy and suit the car music

No real updates at this stage, although the Allroad went to it's first show on Saturday - InCarNation in Brighton!

It was very well received (probably as there are so few petrol Allroads at these shows!) and I even had a bit of a blast with an unknown racing green URS6!

Once payday arrives I plan to buy and fit a front arm kit, plus paint and fit my RS6 spoiler and Cupra R splitter. I also need to tackle an annoying oil leak which I believe is coming from the cam cap seals at the rear of the block - oh joy.

y2blade - Grids look incredible on a B5 S4, and most other Avants to be honest!

If you do go for a set it's gotta be 9.5J all round wink

Mini-update!

I took the Allroad to Modified Nationals in Peterborough last weekend - the show was great although there was a distinct lack of Avants!

I also received a package from TRW GmbH..

I couldn't believe quite how difficult it would be to source an arm kit for my C5 - there just aren't that many UK options available and I didn't want to skimp on such important parts so I'm now £500 lighter but the kit is of such good quality I feel it's totally worth it.

The next update should be here once I've fitted the arms and other bits I have lying around - then it's off to MRC for some fun stuff wink

Updates!

July has been a busy month, and having ticked over 114,000 miles I have now covered 20k in just under a year of ownership. Some photos from June:

It's been largely trouble free until recently - as some of you may recall I bought an entire set of arms for the front suspension having been suffering a pretty terrible ride and numerous rattles; I booked the car in with Swift Tuning in Chessington and here's what they fitted:

And here's what they took out.. probably the worst bushes I've ever seen:

I also replaced my DV's for new 710P units; here are my old ones (both hoses needed to be replaced as the originals were frayed and worn out):

Unfortunately, due to the location of the bags and air lines, they didn't fit these:

I was also advised that my oil leak (which it's had since I bought it) is likely to be an oil feed line issue on both turbos, resulting in a messy underside and a horrid smell. Unfortunately, along with the aforementioned arms, I need to find a specialist who has knowledge and means to rectify both issues. Any suggestions?

Finally, a cosmetic change. I've always thought the front of the Allroad could be a little sharper, and even though you see more of these on cars other than Cupra R's, I think they still look great!

Might need some fettling but it's totally changed the front end.

To do:

- Rectify oil leak
- Fit last two arms
- Colour code chrome / brightwork
- New N75
- Tracking / alignment
- 402 mod
- Full service and fluid change
- Thorough clean

Once these bits have been addressed, I may finally be able to do some fun stuff!

Thanks for reading - more updates soon!

Great update.

I've done a rear wiper delete on my 2.7 biturbo S4 after seeing your allroad, looks much nicer.
btw do you have any more pics since fitting that lip/splitter please?

Edit: did you get it across to MRC yet?

The wiper delete really changes the rear of any car - I think mine looks spot on now debadged and all, but I just need some nice new exhaust tips and to get rid of the chrome on the bootlid and diffuser to complete it!

I will get some clear photos of the splitter from a few angles when I get a moment, although I need to take it off anyway to paint the chromed diffuser plate it now sits under.

Haven't booked it in with MRC yet, although this is planned and budgeted for after August. Still lots of niggly things to sort out beforehand, like the oil leak, last two arms, and a service. Know any good VAG specialists in South East / Surrey / London?

FWIW, the oil lines to the turbos are/were always a weak point for the 2.7. I recall when I had my S4 Avant (B5), this was the main killer of turbos.
Don't know how close you are to MRC, but there the obvious place to go to.

Really interesting topic, I love the sleeper aspect of this car as well! I can't imagine anyone but Audi nuts would know what it's packing really, you will definitely shock a few people once it's been to MRC. The only thing that doesn't sit well with me is the wheels, not the style I love them and have seriously contemplated getting some for my Impreza WR1 but the fact that they stick out past the arches... It makes the car look like it has been poorly modded which it clearly hasn't... Like young lads putting massive alloys on a 106 or something... Is there any way you could roll the arches or something maybe as you must be limited on suspension travel on big dips in tbe road etc?? Anyways I can't wait for the 'power' update! Good work sir.

DanoS4 - thanks for the input. I've put the oil feed lines in my ever-growing list of things to have checked over, fingers crossed it's not an engine out job!

Carlos24 - thank you for your feedback, it certainly does have that sleeper credibility and I love giving people a suprise at the lights! The only reason I have opted to fit the wheels as they are at the moment is because I should have gone for 245/45/18 tyres instead of 255/45/18 - this tiny difference ended up costing me as the final setup fouled suspension arms on every corner, hence I utilised some old hubcentric spacers and long bolts to allow me to safely run the Rotas and full-fat tyres. To be honest, I actually love how the car currently sits - I took inspiration from the old offroading / green laning school of motoring where wheel / tyre setups often protrude arches for a more solid ride and wider stance, something this car has been crying out for since I bought it with it's 7.5J originals. When I've worn out the current tyres I'll consider finding a more suitable cross-section but having received some nice feedback at recent shows I'm in two minds!

Also, I've got the car booked in with Tuning Werkes again this Wednesday, to complete the following:

- Fit remaining 2 front lower arms
- Fix suspension / brake rattle
- Fix oil leak and check suspect areas
- Oil service
- Fit new washer jet pipe
- Correct wheel tracking
- Coolant reservoir refresh and coolant flush
- MOT (moment of terror..!)

Once all the above is sorted I will FINALLY be ready to book the Allroad in with MRC, but only once I'm confident everything is running as it should!

As always thanks for reading!

Update - and it's not a good one..

So in the 3rd week of August Tuning Werkes took my car in and did the following:

- Fit remaining 2 front lower arms
- Oil service
- Coolant reservoir refresh and coolant flush
- MOT

Then, on Thursday 28th, I was hit by a van driver who clumsily switched lanes too soon approaching a roundabout, and he's ruined my car. He sustained minimal damage because the only initial contact was his Transit's wheel lug nut hitting my alloy, piercing the tyre and cracking it. He then proceeded to scrape down the NS with the front right side of his van grumpy

This is the road in question - I was in the right hand lane going straight and he cut over from the left hand lane while I was heading onto the roundabout:

The Allroad is currently with my insurers and I really really hope they can mend it. As far as I can see the following needs addressing:

- Passenger side doors need to be resurfaced, particularly the rear
- Chrome trim on lower rear passenger door needs replacing
- Plastic arch trim needs replacing / refurbishing
- Alloy wheel and tyre needs replacing
- Hub / axle / driveshaft need checking and fixing as necessary

The last point is particularly worrying because the axle is bent and I fear the air suspension unit may also have been damaged. At this point I have no idea if its a write-off weeping

Needless to say, this car has been a joy and I miss it already, even if the courtesy car is pretty nice..

Hopefully the next update will be a positive one!

Hope you manage to get this sorted satisfactorily. It's soul destroying when you acquire a really nice car and start working through it to get it just right, then some dozy sod smashes into you.

I had a head on crash with a Pratt who thought he was abroad, appeared on wrong side of road on apex of a blind bend and the rest was history.

Please keep us updated and hope you get the Audi back up and running soon .

Tell me about it frown still no word from my insurers and it's been over a week - starting to think it might be game over.

I've been told that if they were to consider the car a write-off, I can potentially buy it back at a reduced rate meaning I can then seek to repair it of my own accord, which I will definitely do. Mechanically it's now sound so if they list the necessary repairs I will start looking for quotes. Such a pain in the posterior though, and I am very impatient!

Bad news.

The Allroad is no more - insurers considered it too costly to repair. I'm absolutely devastated; not only did I just spend serious money getting it up to scratch but I had plans in the works that will now never be visited..

.. at least not on this one. The settlement has given me more to play with than I bought it for last year as the market value appears to have risen, so I may eventually begin the hunt for another Allroad as I truly cannot think of another vehicle available that does everything quite like my 2.7T.

That's all for now folks. Thanks for reading!

worth looking into.

insurers write off loads of decent cars because there a bit old and the garage/body shop labour rates are so high for insurance jobs.

Unless they have unearthed something more than cosmetic damage it has got to be worth having back, stick the left over settlement wedge into planned works.
