New month, new car....

I was not getting on with the Skoda and spied this.

107k, mostly MB history. Drives very well with sublime acceleration.

Unfortunately it's become apparent that there is a fault with the gearbox (hopefully minor) and if it's off to see an expert next week. So far the trader is being a gentleman, and hopefully will remain so.

It's an unusual spec and colour, and it's growing on me.

Nice facelift model, shouldnt have any electrical/rust issues.

Unusual to see a facelift in Green!

Don't think I have seen those wheels before, are they standard?

Not sure. I've spoken to the traders specialist who sounds like he knows what he's talking about, and has the diagnostic kit. I'm getting bad changes between 2nd and 3rd. It could be as simple as a fluid change or software reload.

Standard Elegance. Most seem to be Classic or Avantgarde.

Good luck with the gearbox, our Merc of the same era had a similar problem and the bill was just over £2k.

It's probably the speed or shift sensor, an expensive part that needs coding.

No doubt the cost of repair is in excess of the traders profit.

Can't see what the difference is between the facelift and pre facelift. Did they change the headlights or something.

I do like this colour combo the cream leather works well with the green.

Would ask the dealer to source a set of plush mats from MB as a deal sweetener, but then i have a deep hatred for rubber mats

They're not rubber - look like standard ribbed MB carpet mats to me - very hard-wearing. Agreed it's a very nice colour combo.

External difference is lights mainly. Internally new cluster, new dash switches, and stereo.

I'll actually be getting some Rubber matts to protect the carpet ones over Winter...

I'd love to say how the cars getting on, but I've barely seen it.

Current sitrep is:

Trader is getting car sorted but:

Gearbox specialist says engine fault
Mercedes Specialist says ECU software upgrade
Trader say dealer reports fault still present. Dealer says Torque convertor.
I've spoken to dealer who say they've not done anything other than software upgrade and no diagnosis.
Gearbox specialist adamant engine fault

I'm a little confused and waiting to hear back, while I am now a five star gold* member with Hertz..... This is meant to get a free upgrade, but that does not seem to work!

Its been 3 weeks, have you not had your money back yet?

My patience would have worn thin about 2 weeks ago. Plenty of fully functional cars you've missed out on...

I'm probably being too patient. Having said that the delay is partly because the trader has been avoiding the main dealer, and partly because it's difficult to diagnose. He's now bit the bullet and is getting the dealer (who are being good to deal with) to investigate. Hopefully something will come off this.

He can buy it back off you, fix it properly and sell it to someone else in my opinion.
